The #US is not deploying a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (#THAAD) missile battery to protect #Ukraine, as it will do in #Israel, given the different defense capabilities of the two nations, #Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina #Singh said at a briefing on Oct. 15.

The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, or #THAAD, is a critical part of the #US military's layered air defense systems & adds to #Israel's anti-missile defenses.
A THAAD battery usually requires ~100 troops to operate. It counts 6 truck mounted launchers, w/8 interceptors on each launcher, & a powerful radar.
#Iran's FM Abbas Araqchi warned earlier on Sun that the #UnitedStates was putting the lives of its troops "at risk by deploying them to operate US missile systems in Israel."
Biden administration is considering the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to Israel.
Deployment of a THAAD to Israel would involve the deployment of US soldiers to operate the complex system.
The Army has seven THAAD batteries. Generally, each consists of six truck-mounted launchers, 48 interceptors, and radio and radar equipment. It requires 95 soldiers to operate.
