Spent the weekend down in West Cork. Due to some (minor) surgery on my foot last week, I wasn't really able to make the most of it. On top of that, the weather was fairly grey.

But I managed to capture this brief blast of sunlight forcing its way through the clouds as I stood atop Toe Head.

A photograph of the Atlantic Ocean taken from a headland in West Cork, Ireland. Both the sky and the ocean are grey, but rays of sunlight break through the cloud-cover here and there. One break in the clouds in particular results in a bright patch of light on the grey sea.

I’ve been their photographer here, making portraits with most of the visiting artists & other diabolical scenes, which are included in their 1st exhibition catalogue.

My own history with Glenkeen began in early 2000s when Uli Crespo & Michael Satke began collecting my paintings. Three of which, from various series, are visible hanging over the dinner table above.

This was a feast of various foraged seaweeds from around our coastline cooked up by Jo Wanneng & Lukas Fütterer aka STRWÜÜ. See next photo.

It’s a rare position, one I appreciate, for me to be both included in the permanent collection & continue contributing as the foundation grows from its infancy in such diverse creative company.

Open pages of the catalogue with my portraits of Jo and Lukas, brief cases in hand standing in the low tide up to their ankles in seaweed.

The catalogue goes a long way into recognising / acknowledging the creative community which makes up Ballydehob alongside the environment.

Including our much loved Jazz Festival.

A husband and wife have been given five-month suspended jail sentences, after a court in West Cork was told they kept 50 dogs and more than 20 pups in conditions which were filthy and stinking.
