2 votes. The two votes my friend and I didn't cast, elected a giant asshole to city council. Just after high school we were ColdFusion devs supporting this person's unreasonable demands: small changes for free, SEO stalking Google, weird tech support for their personal desktop. All resulting in demeaning verbal abuse weekly.
For whatever reason, being 18 and 19 yo we didn't care enough about a local election. But our carelessness allowed this person to gain political power.
They won by 1 fucking vote.
20 years later I still remember that rush of guilt when the votes were counted.
