Thanks nature. I had a longer lens, the right focus, enough light and I was moments earlier thinking of the local pro photographer's dolphin photo, having just seen them on the path to here.

And then this happens.

(Pics are phone photos of the camera display. Will be much better later, could be a while as moving is a ... nuisance).

I have been watching the live coverage of the splash down of astronauts. I am very amused about the appearance of a pod of dolphins who are keeping an eye on the activities.

So it looks like bottlenose dolphins started migrating to Northern California in the last decade. Have not seen any yet, but this guy posts his sightings throughout the day! We’ll kinda stalk him as he stalks them.

I’m “loved dolphins since Flipper” years old, and I still love them.

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

In 2021 I created a bunch of vignettes for a new book, called SEA MAMMALS, by Annalisa Berta. They were quick to produce and a fun change from my big Mesozoic landscapes, which take weeks to complete. The animals here are not to scale.

Been enjoying the sailing videos @chris posts, as they remind me of our sailing days in those waters.
Today he mentioned Dassen Island, and as the memory cogs ground, I remembered an amazing story involving that area. And I found an account of it.
