To give a single measure of how much #dystopian this time is, I find myself cheering and almost feeling proud at the fact that italian PM, Giorgia Meloni (far right, sympathising for neofascist and so evil in many ways) stated the simple fact that
** #Ukraine was brutally aggressed**
while remotely speaking at some non sense MAGA event in the US.
(extra points for getting caught a few seconds after the end of the speech to say "I wanna die"). I'm praying she keeps standing by that.

I Cheerfully Refuse by Leif Enger is definitely a slow dystopian burn and I'm still trying to figure out exactly HOW dystopian it is. Resources seem limited and barter system is in place, but people are also using cell phones and there's still something resembling a federal govt. (the President is proudly illiterate, so life imitating art or vice versa?) For such a short book, this has provoked some of the most thoughts for a while. A lot of the themes are still very valid, others maybe not so much. Montag's character arc is something else!
