If I want to move away from #google drive (docs, sheets, etc.) and keep as many of those features as possible--collaborative editing, easy permissions to give others access, file sharing--what are my options?
- Don't say Nextcloud because I already self-host an instance; it's awesome, but there are reasons I'm asking about other options
- If you say "self-hosted...x" it's potentially less useful to me for this specific situation, though I'm open to ideas
- I am OK with paying for the service, if it's reasonable.
@johnoestmannmusic if you have to use #Windows for gaming because your favorite game's anti cheat requires it, then you can replace Windows #FileExplorer with a third party program like #Files which is an open source option, or #DirectoryOpus which is a paid option. Directory Opus requires a one time payment, but you only get a year's worth of feature updates, but security updates are limitless and free.
I have also written an finicky to setup xdg-desktop-portal that let one choose #files using #emacs https://codeberg.org/rahguzar/filechooser , an Emacs interface to #hoogle https://codeberg.org/rahguzar/consult-hoogle
There is a (kind of in progress) major mode for #sagemath https://codeberg.org/rahguzar/sage-mode which hasn't seen much progress in a while because it is usable for its only user i.e. me.
Recently I managed to make produce a (humongous) #texinfo manual for Sage so that I can read it from Emacs https://github.com/sagemath/sage/issues/21734
