I canceled my Adobe subscription for January and I bought the Affinity 2 upgrade.

This is going o be hard. I've been using Photoshop since I was 14, it feels natural to me. I switched from Premiere Pro to DaVinci Resolve (Editing, I used DaVinci for Color Grading before) years ago and now its time to say goodbye to my beloved Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator

When it comes to "page design"/DTP, most people know of InDesign, or the free Scribus. But there's another free tool too for all OSes (including Linux): Viva Designer. Very advanced, and with a good UI, albeit not open source. They have a time-unlimited free tier that doesn't lose too many features over the full version.

My wife came home from work to complain about her instance of Microsoft 365 that wouldn't work, and I got to tell her about my Adobe InDesign CC, which (as has repeatedly happened) locks up on launch. Have I mentioned that software subscription models just suck ass, and serve nobody but stockholders?

InDesign crashes as soon as I try to delete a specific page (containing a specific text object that I’m unable to delete either) AND as soon as I try to export the entire PDF file, the software simply shuts down. It’s a nightmare.

I’ve updated the app, restarted it obv, deleted cache, tried to work locally and not inside iCloud, checked all image links and font availability and everything looks good.

Any idea/advice on what to try next?

First (and only) illustration book of mine from 2011 iirc. I had no idea what I was doing, first time using indesign for real, and I thought that book was kind of mediocre, mostly because I wasn't happy with my illustration skills.

In hindsight though, these spreads kind of slap.
