Trump, Musk, Rs lie:
Winds fanning the flames were so fierce, & ground conds. so dry -clearing more shrubs wouldn’t have had a significant effect.
“Could've put a 10-lane FWY in front of that fire -wouldn't have slowed it."
Veg. mgt efforts are typically most effective when firefighters are able to take advantage of the reduced fire intensity they provide to snuff out flames. Fire was blowing sideways from house to house -structures themselves serving as fuel.

For those of you who are not aware, there are documentaries about how impossible it was to escape and to fight the "Camp" fire in Paradise CA a few years back. Same dryness, same winds, same fast moving fire that caught people off guard. There's no way to fight such a fire.

A friend of mine has organized a fundraiser for his mother, who has lost her home in the #eatonfire. He writes, "My childhood home is gone. Completely and totally. All the rare wood I had saved for a career in instrument making, the workbench I bought. All the plans and hopes and dreams and sorrows and family memories. All gone. I'm helping my mom rebuild and we could really use your help however you're able."

A friend shared info on a quilt drive for the #LAFire if anyone wants to participate
I’ve shopped at San Diego Sewn (online) and a fabric store in Pasadena, though not the LQS mentioned. Proud of how the quilting community comes together in times like these!

For most of my life I've experienced decades long meltdowns due to traumatizing overwhelm at the agonizing collapse of structures I rely on to exist (cultural, physical, interpersonal).
Also, cataclysmic ecological death.
Also, how these horrifying things will outstrip my lifetime.
But I've worked through a lot of it. I did not know that possible.
Now I choose local, personal agency. Not panic.
ANYWAY here's a guide to make a cool go-bag.
If we sit and dawdle, we're f*cked. #climatechange #LAfire
Quebecair water bomber hit a drone while doing a drop on the Palisades fire, hole in a wing, grounded - also means the plane will out for months
Seriously, anyone flying an unauthorized drone in a fire zone needs a summary lobotomy
About the LA Fires: State Farm and other insurers dropped fire coverage for everyone (I think countywide) effective the end of 2024. Replacing the coverage proved time consuming to impossible. Many many are NOT insured. I know two who weren't insured because of this fiasco; one lost their family house.
The photo is of a friend's mother's house and I did not take it.
