Ordered upholstery fabric (fake leather) for the Eames knockoff chair, plus some appropriate upholstery thread of matching color. Plan to look at a (vintage!) heavy duty sewing machine this weekend for the project, as someone will draw and quarter me if I attempt upholstery on their machine. (saw many YouTube videos of people doing upholstery with that particular machine--apparently it's pretty robust-- so it's capable of it). We'll see when I eventually get to it, but having the supplies in hand will make it possible and overcome "project friction" #random #diy #projects #sewing

It’s a rare weekend when the weather is marginal and I’m sick enough I can’t go out. So I started a project I’ve been meaning to do for a long time: “refinishing” the workbench.

I built this nearly 18 years ago and the top was getting really chipped and dinged from various woodworking projects and disgusting from various bike and camping fluids. So, new top and some new internal structure and compartments as well.

Next up, reorganizing the tools on a larger peg board.

I discovered a new-to-me 'She Wants Revenge' b-sides album last night, and wanting to replicate its handwritten CD is the motivation I needed to finally update my 3D-printer-pen-plotter to work with the Beacon and Klipper.

Unfortunately, I've run out of filament so I can't print the final iteration until tomorrow :'-(

Here's a fun little "commission" project.

My wife wanted a present for a local retiring judge that she enjoyed working with. Apparently he often used to indicate his mood to the attorneys based on a sliding scale between Morgan Freeman and Sam Kinison. Makes sense, really.

Anyway, the 3D-printed planchette has an embedded magnet that snaps to more magnets behind the laminated sheet.

A friend of mine is developing a graphical manager for Yggdrasil (yggdrasil-network.github.io/) called Yggtray:
github.com/the-nexi/yggtray

Yggtray runs in the background and is accessible through the system tray. Currently it allows the user to start/stop the daemon and check its current status. Also it shows the node IP address and allows to copy it.

Some ideas for the future development are listed in the project issues on GitHub. Contributions are welcome!
