I'd agree, but there seems to be a large slice of the population (at least in Canada/USA, not sure elsewhere) that is #allergic to second-hand goods -- they're actively creeped-out at the thought of touching, much less using, someone else's pre-owned things.

This attitude mostly didn't exist when I was growing up. How did we teach youngsters to be afraid of #used?

@Natanox Yeah, I'm not a fan of those, but then again I can understand why someone may buy them given a tight budget, need to get somewhat decent hardware for cash on a short notice and not being able and/or willing to deal with the frustration inbound that a #used #ThinkPad would likely require...

Also yes, I've to agree that getting people just with something to get started on #Linux is the way to get them converted.

  • Personally I'd see this as a gamble as these Lenovo V-Series Laptops are oftentimes so flimsy that I've seen some with broken-through mainboards in the middle to the chassis flexing hard. But I guess you knew that and saw it as a nice testing ground to learn reflowing...
