I didn’t think I’d do 11 miles today. I’ve been pretty exhausted all week, not keeping up with daily riding, and just… blah.

One of the things I love about the #Fediverse: random people's #biking maps. Whether they're riding close to my house, in my long-lost hometown, somewhere else I once lived, or in a place I know nothing about, I dig seeing everyone's zigs and zags.
I didn't think I'd get 11 miles in today. It's dreary out, cold, had a few raindrops, and the wind picked up a bit. Still, did 11 miles in an hour.
I also picked up two hard drives from @brandonjbrown so I was carrying 8TB the whole time!

Among the most satisfying of the numerous Bicycling Monterey projects https://bikemonterey.org/about/financial-donations/donations-some-ways-your-money-can-help is providing an alternative to fines for people who receive citations while biking https://bikemonterey.org/bike-equity-project-alternative-to-fine-for-traffic-citations.html.
As we pointed out at the last #CalBike Policy Advisory Council meeting, although California legislation allows for a $25 fine for helmet citation (for minors), court costs mean that $25 becomes $193 in our county courts.
Tonight’s letter writing (below) provides one example of saving a local family money—in this case, $386, as the minor had received two citations. We do our best to tailor each minor’s community service to their individual learning style and family circumstances.
If you value the Bicycling Monterey site and projects, please consider making a donation to help support this work. https://bikemonterey.org/about/financial-donations
"Make Biking Dangerous Again" because obviously bikes are DEI woke programs meant to... I don't even fucking know but that one asshole owns a car company.
I took some low-res photos at the last group bike ride and the next one is in two weeks (and should be much warmer!)

figured out how to transport a full 11x17 sign on my bike I think
i think surprisingly it's a little _easier_ than the smaller sign because it just sits on top as opposed to not _quite_ fitting anywhere
Ugh, that was a long one! But that’s what weekends are for. The Oak Leaf Train/Menomonee Parkway near me is awesome.
I skipped the bike the last two days because I was not feeling well but did okay today!

Today’s ride was rough. I slept terribly and felt it. Still did 6 miles so huzzah to that.
I just realised that with Waterfront Trail open in Seattle that you can bike from fucken
WOODINVILLE
to
WEST SEATTLE
(Alki Point and beyond)
_entirely_ on bike infrastructure.
SAMMAMISH RIVER TRAIL west to Bothell, join BURKE GILMAN through Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Lake City, University, Wallingford, Fremont, join FREMONT BRIDGE south to WESTLAKE TRAIL through Lower Queen Anne, continue to BELL STREET (Bicycle) to SECOND AVE (Bicycle) to BATTERY (Bicycle) through Belltown to ELLIOT WAY (Bicycle) to WATERFRONT TRAIL through Downtown, join ELLIOT BAY TRAIL SOUTH to MARGINAL WAY (Separated Bike Lanes) through SoDo, join WEST SEATTLE BRIDGE TRAIL, join ALKI TRAIL through West Seattle to ALKI.
_Dang_.
Back to the cemetery! I figure I’ll make cemetery rides my “fast” rides. (Yeah, my fast might be your slow but I’m trying. I’m more of a slow/medium roll rider.)

I don’t want to be overly optimistic but it looks like this week will be great for morning bike rides outdoors. Overnight lows in the 30°F range means warmer than that by 7am.
Just over an hour on the bike, which is good for me. A bit over 10 miles… and 35°F is a perfect temperature for biking.
