Something a little more urban than usual for #FootpathFriday - the path alongside the Water of Leith in Edinburgh.
This week's #FootpathFriday takes us to a geologically-new trail on Heimaey, Iceland. Geologically new in that in the early 1970s, there was a town ten meters under where the trail now is. Really interesting stuff!

These icy sections of #trail are what remained of the #winter in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The #ice appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. Didn’t need microspikes as I could “rock hop” through the sections of ice. #FootpathFriday #mountains #hiking
