Hey fedi friends,

I’m currently decluttering and found my old #MacBookPro. I figured it wasn’t good for anything except recycling at this point but then I noticed Apple will still buy them back so... I figured I’d see if any fedi friends have need of an Early 2015 MacBook Pro.

I’m sorry if it’s so ancient that the offer is silly but if you just wanted to check emails/apply to jobs/write a book/etc. it would still probably serve you well.

This appears to be a reference to the federal #law known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (#IDEA), which the #Education Dept administers. The law guarantees students w/ #disabilities the right to a #free, appropriate education &, in 2024, sent ~$15B to schools to help pay for #SpecialEducation services. The law also makes clear that it is the secretary of education's responsibility to administer these funds.

I have tried to rehome these old furniture pieces I can't take with me when I move and, sadly, nobody wants them. Even charities won't take them because they don't have fire safety labels (they were made before that was a requirement).

Sadly, they're going to end up getting thrown away and that's criminal because they're perfectly good pieces.

It feels incredibly wasteful to just dump them but if nobody will take them what else can I do?
