Most of us currently have very few sponsors so we have to make our living in other jobs. Often times this involves us abusing other #OpenSource works in closed source settings

So yeah, we made it!

But we’re not being paid … this was sort of the obvious conclusion with #capitalism but most of us fanboys in the early 2000’s didn’t know better

Had to add:

sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel-bin ~amd64
virtual/dist-kernel ~amd64
sys-fs/zfs ~amd64
sys-fs/zfs-kmod ~amd64

to /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords just to be able install the really latest kernel in Gentoo.

I think I'm 90% done setting up this thingamajig. Just have to add some packages to make gaming work.

Gonna take a break for now.

The #BlueHats 🧢 initiative started in France in 2018, but it was always intended to be a global movement, bringing together civil servants willing to promote #FreeSoftware #OpenSource in, for and by public administrations.

Here is the BlueHats manifesto:

1. Governments should actively contribute to Free Software.
2. Digitisation of public services should prioritise Free Software.
3. Civil servants should be free to use Free Software.

Do you agree? Join the movement!

FOSS infrastructure is under attack by AI companies

What do SourceHut, GNOME's GitLab, and KDE's GitLab have in common, other than all three of them being forges? Well, it turns out all three of them have been dealing with immense amounts of traffic from "AI" scrapers, who are effectively performing DDoS attacks with such ferocity it's bringing down the infrastructures of these maj

"these issues impact disproportionately on the #foss world; not only do #opensource projects often have less resources compared to commercial products, but - being community-driven projects - much more of their infrastructure is public and thus susceptible to both crawlers and AI-generated bug reports or issues." #ai #llm thelibre.news/foss-infrastruct

LibreNews · FOSS infrastructure is under attack by AI companiesLLM scrapers are taking down FOSS projects' infrastructure, and it's getting worse.

Artificial intelligence companies are creating incredibly large scale denial of service situations on the infrastructure of Open Source Networks.

Now Network owners need to waste time on Finding ways of sending All These requests of the rogue AI insects to /dev/null

Hello #Fediverse!

My name is Luca, I'm a drummer and IT professional from Italy, currently based in Prague, Czech Republic.

I make music, websites and, unfortunately, I like tinkering! 🎶👩🏻‍💻
I'm also interested in the Linux and the open source worlds.

You can find:

- 🎼 my music on lucamancini.com/music/
- :peertube: my videos on @luca_mancini_drummer
- :pixelfed: my pictures on @luca.mancini
- :web: my current services ko-fi.com/luca_mancini_drummer

I also created a Lemmy community to discuss royalties and music promotion

www.lucamancini.comLuca's music catalogueWelcome to my self-hosted music catalogue!

I'm looking for an #OpenSource static site generator for non-technical users. Ideally what I want is something with a control panel which can be driven with a mouse, which has controls for add new page, edit page, delete page, serve site locally, push site to server.

Needs to work on Windows and Mac. #Linux would be nice, but Linux folk can mostly cope with command lines.

If I can't find one I'll write a WIMP control panel to wrap around #Cryogen.

Any suggestions?
