"As seedbeds of literacy and innovation, our nation’s 125,000 public, school, academic and special libraries deserve more, not less support. Libraries of all types translate 0.003% of the federal budget into programs and services used in more than 1.2 billion in-person patron visits every year, and many more virtual visits." https://www.ala.org/news/2025/03/ala-statement-white-house-assault-institute-museum-and-library-services
I finished Life is Strange: True Colors (and Wavelengths). They were good, but Life is Strange 2 did grew even more on me after finishing these games. It’s the only title were actions really had consequences. I'm not sure why so many people dislike the second LiS title :/
I would play Double Exposure next, but it’s too expensive at the moment, so it has to wait.
Update. Survey of US #librarians and #LIS faculty.

"Recent weeks and months have brought shifts to the pursuit of research across the United States, including funding freezes and budget cuts, executive orders regarding DEIA (and its variants) and other justice-related topics (e.g., environmental justice)…This survey aims to gather the perspectives of academic librarians and LIS-program faculty about the implications of these shifts (and executive orders) on research initiatives and, more broadly, academic freedom, researchers' freedom of thought/speech/expression within academia, and researchers' overall intellectual freedom."

Update. "English-only journals have historically dominated the field [of #LIS. But] a significant number of multilingual journals have been indexed in Scopus over the past two decades. The 42 identified multilingual journals span 25 countries and encompass 18 languages…The study also uncovered disparities in journal metrics and rankings, with multilingual journals consistently scoring lower than their English-only counterparts."

Yesterday, Anna's Blog dropped one most thought provoking piece on digital archives and the future of preservation. It might change your views on shadow libraries. Go read the whole thing: https://annas-archive.org/blog/critical-window.html
"We have a critical window of about 5-10 years during which it’s still fairly expensive to operate a shadow library and create many mirrors around the world, and during which access has not been completely shut down yet."
