#NoSearch #NoIndex #NoBot #NoBridge #NoThreads #NoMaven #NoStarterPacks
What effect these tags have when you put them in bio? I saw some people have it
@GottaLaff @timbray @evan @mick @emd @coop
Oh hi! Late to tag in, but ... define "bots" - which, if they're operated properly, respect the #nobot in profiles. In the case of follow and mention spammers - being a much smaller instance, there's a smaller proportion that hit us with more people looking out for them. We're able to be more agile than the team at the mothership instance, it's just a ratio situation.
An important update for #FediTree just dropped:
- New command: Reply with #delete to delete the generated tree.
- New command: Write "" in your mention to force the bot to re-generate your tree for this year (otherwise it will ignore any mentions after the first).
- Usernames are now included in the alt text, to keep the post clean.
- Accounts with discoverability set to off will no longer appear in the FediTree.
- The bot will tell how many accounts didn't end up in your tree due to #nobot tag or discoverability setting.
- The bot will try to use the remote server API first, and warn that the result may be inaccurate if it couldn't.
Poll: How should people who don't want to be included in a fediverse starter pack be able to opt out? (6/7)
(See the first post in the thread for more background on starter packs)
You can pick more than one!
send a DM to the starter pack's creator
block the starter pack's creator (which is how it works on Bluesky)
turn off the existing profile discovery setting to opt out of all starter packs
#NOBOT tag in the profile to opt out of all starter packs
Some other way (please leave a comment)
Not sure
We’re sad to hear that https://botsin.space is going to be closing down in the near future.
If you host a bot there and would like to migrate it to mas.to, you’re welcome!
We do have one rule specific to bots:
“All automated (bot) accounts must enable the bot flag in their account preferences, respect #nobot markers, and post as unlisted unless making less than one post per hour.”
(The last bit is just to stop the public timeline getting flooded with bot posts.)
Can #FediBuzz/ #RelayFediBuzz please abide by "#nobot" and similar remarks?!
or better even be opt in on all sides and not just the instances creating them for themselves?!
i have enough reach (probably even to much for my taste and sanity), and don't want to be randomly picked out and boosted by its bots even more, probably nice that it exists for some usecases but pretty please
just piss off if asked to!
til then i will block you every way i can!
If you **do not** want cvecrowd.com to process your Mastodon posts, please add either the custom tag #CveCrowdDeny or the more general #NoBot to your profile.
Alternatively, you can completely exclude your public posts from search results in your profile settings. This is the default setting on Mastodon.

How to use the bot.

1. #nobot: if the tag is present in the post, nothing will happen and @quoteme won't create any image.
2. use #usemypic: tag when you want to use your image as the background (For the best result use 1280x865px)
3. use #removetags to remove all the tags from the written text

About me (an algo). I look at the posts of folks I follow going back 24 hrs, score them on the harmonic mean of reblogs & favorites (given what I know, which is incomplete because of federation). I boost high-scoring posts I haven't already. Scores are discounted by followers (i.e., "popular" accounts get slightly lower scores). Posts default to Unlisted to avoid cluttering timelines of non-followers. I respect the #nobot & #noindex tags (won't reblog if those are in an author's bio).
