On 10th October, the #Labour Government published the Employment Rights Bill (ERB), promised as part of their manifesto and the Plan to Make Work Pay.

Today, we learn that various measures within this bill: such as Zero Hours Contracts, Day One protection from dismissal, and Fire and Re-hire will be diluted and or removed as #Reeves' advisers have told her that they hamper growth.

To me, it represents another matter that Labour has rowed back from to chase the capitalist money God

I am sure that misogyny is a problem - although ‘insider briefings’ Against prominent politicians are nothing new - Remember #Corbyn.

However comments aimed at these people must surely also have a basis in their positions and their behaviour? #Reeves on her misguided and incompetent approach to cutting benefits to apply a stick, both she and #Rayner (and of course #Starmer) on their blatant acceptance of bribes - whoops gifts.

The Guardian · ‘Cabinet no longer feels safe’: Labour MPs criticise briefings against female ministersBy Jessica Elgot

Politicians like to talk about the ‘optics’ - in this case it is reasonable to wonder whether Reeves has very very dark rose tinted spectacles.

‘Chancellor, who took family member to see Sabrina Carpenter at O2, says she understands public perceptions about politicians’ freebies’

It did not take Labour long to get their noses deep into the toughs.

The Guardian · Rachel Reeves says she will not accept free concert tickets in future after criticismBy Eleni Courea

Young people aged 14 would be allowed to work overnight during the school week in legislation championed by DeSantis

OK, child labour today, one assumes the resumption of (formal) slavery to follow. I suspect Florida has few chimneys that need cleaning, but with what DeSantis is doing with educations may mean that kids need to do something to occupy their time. Reeves are you watching for your next idea?

‘When pressed about the number of people that could fall into poverty, #Reeves said she’s "confident" the changes to the benefits package will get more people into work and "lift families out of poverty."

How does cutting Pip and freezing the health element of Universal Credit help get people into work? It’s penalising disabled people for being disabled.

Here’s an example from the #Guardian Live evening summary on the #SpringStatement:

“The #Labour party is the party” of work, #Reeves says. More than 1,000 people a day are qualifying for personal independence payments (Pip), Reeves says. “It is a waste of their potential and a waste of their futures.”

Hmmm…#Tories broke the #NHS and social care, and now Labour wonder why so many people need Pip…and if they take it away from them, that’ll get them into work. Completely unhinged and cruel.

Am I the only one to be questioning why Personal Independence Payments (Pip) are being cut with a #Labour assumption that this will force disabled people into work?

Pip is awarded regardless of whether you are in work or not…it’s about helping you to be independent in terms of washing yourself, cooking and getting about.

To conflate it with an unemployment benefit is as I understand it disingenuous.

Yet #Reeves argues this and the media parrots it.

“Rachel #Reeves pledges to gift billions to arms industry profiteers – while killing disabled people”

by Ed Sykes in The Canary @thecanaryuk

“Instead of going down the path of increasing military spending, then, mass investment in public services and the planet would be a much better focus to have. But the corporate cronies in this gov’t seem much more interested in pleasing their wealthy donors than actually investing in a positive, hopeful future”

While Reeves ‘promises’ That living standards will improve, the rest of us in the real world know that this is not her intention - from PIP to this short piece

‘In the real world, mounting numbers of people are simply scared. Many are also baffled about why ministers are constantly averting their eyes from the human costs of their decisions.’

I am not baffled. It's always easier if you can ignore the consequences of your actions.

The Guardian · In a town far from Whitehall, I saw just how devastating Labour’s cuts will be. So why can’t ministers?By John Harris

‘Since’ Austerity 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Labour MPs uneasy as chancellor prepares even deeper reductions that economists say will harm key services

Uneasy - feckin uneasy. The rest of us are terrified.

An incompetent amateur who shares Starmer's perfidy is absolutely the righ person for the job! Give us Independence and let us get off this gobshite's gravy train. I notice they don't even admit any assesment of the consequences.

Rachel Reeves softened non-dom plans after concerns from Blackstone CEO

#Reeves changed #Labour's position on #non-doms weeks after 1 of world’s most largest #financiers asked her personally not to increase taxes on super rich

Info released under Freedom of Information Act show Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of leading asset manager #Blackstone, raised concerns with Reeves about plans to reform tax treatment of #non-domiciled individuals

#Reeves and Kendall's welfare benefit changes

PIP will be frozen for one year
It will be harder to qualify for this, too

UC will rise for those judged to be looking for work, but for those who are too ill to look for work, then. .....

THEIR BENEFIT WILL BE CUT !

#unemployment
#welfarebenefits

Up to one million people will be adversely affected, and some of these people will die.

I do not say this lightly

Car loans was a financial services volcano waiting to go off for decade.
Nobody in the car loan sector cared. Plenty got nice & wealthy thank you, from car dealers to the unscrupulous finance houses happy to cosy up to them. 'By the time the wheels fall off, the architects will be long gone'.
Respect to Mr Johnson, (of Johnson v Firstrand Bank case), for his courage to say "hang on a minute..?"
If there is a final tragedy, it is Chancellor #Reeves trying to intervene. On the WRONG side! 7/7

Looks like a Tory, now goose stepping like a Tory - what next?

Judges at the supreme court rejected the chancellor’s application, lodged last month, in which she urged them to avoid handing “windfall” compensation to borrowers harmed by allegedly secret commission payouts to car dealers that arranged the loans.

A consumption encouraging rip off exposed!

The Guardian · Supreme court judges reject Reeves’ motor finance interventionBy Kalyeena Makortoff

And not a measure of GDP that most people would appreciate!

Despite growth in 2024, living standards fell. Inequality, weak public investment and government cuts threaten prosperity. Labour must offer voters something different

They don’t appear to embarking on that journey - the cult of Thatcher and household 3economics is strong in Reeves.

The Guardian · The Guardian view on Britain’s broken economy: ‘That’s your bloody GDP, not ours’By Editorial

My #Labour MP, Clive Lewis knows that a huge swathe of his constituency will vote #Green at the next election if his party continues with this ‘growth’ at the expense of the #environment and sucking up to the rich business that #Reeves is currently obsessed with.

‘Has Donald #Trump’s resurgence made it easier for Labour to jettison some of its social and environmental commitments?’

Exactly that.
