So, just wondering: what is a decent European alternative for payment handling like #Stripe? (It must support both single payments and monthly subscriptions.)

I've been out of the loop and I am sure there are people with experience here.

Preferably one with a matured API (and a Python library would be a nice bonus).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

#Python #Development #ShopLocal 😊

I legitimately do not understand how other people deal with #Stripe I had to explain to them 5 times now that,

1. I am a writer.

2. I publish things on my blog, some premium, but most, open access.

3. I publish exclusive newsletters via email where people get charged when I send an email, #Patreon style.

And every single time, they can't figure me out or what I do. I guess my stuff has to be behind a hard paywall for them to get it? Trouble is, places like Liberapay and Comradery use them so I can't just throw up my hands and say, whatever.

These are their requests, in order.

1. Could you explain the nature of your business? Your blog isn't behind a pay wall.

2. Could you explain accessibility consulting? This isn't in our recognized list of services provided.

3. Could you explain your charity status?

I never claimed to be a charity so this last one baffles me.

and finally, the one I am on now,

Could you explain more about your writing?

I really do wanna scream. How hard is it to comprehend my accessibility tutorials? Ugh!

I want to avoid using #Stripe

- It's US-based, and I'm a political target
- Stripe is hosting Zuck as a keynote speaker
- They're getting cozy with AI

I want suggestions/insight on anything

Current frontrunner, can anyone tell me thoughts about #Helcim as a company/recurring payment processor? I'm considering them because:

- Based in Canada
- Messaging about putting people first, which I generally don't trust with any company, but given that I live in the US, the fact that it's not visibly white supremacy makes a difference
- I wish that was a joke
- User experience seems smooth on both sides of the transaction.
- International payments
- Don't need a US address

This #Make automation triggers whenever a #Stripe invoice is paid. 💸 🤖

The paid invoice contains the corresponding #ClickUp task ID related to the deal as metadata.

With this information, the automation retrieves details from the task, downloads the Stripe invoice, and uploads it in the corresponding G-Drive client folder.

Finally, the deal status is updated to "DEAL WON", and a new automation, which will manage the new project, is triggered through a webhook! 🚀

And it's worse than that. I managed to sponsor ONE creator on ko-fi using my #linux laptop. Now that I have an account, created when I did that first sponsorship, I can't actually pay anyone else. Something about the #stripe integration at #kofi causes the payment box to never appear. I get various web front end errors in the developer console. I tried #Firefox and Internet Adsplorer (a.k.a. Chromium). Neither would show me the payment box. A creator missed out on 25 EUR contribution, when I couldn't make a payment after 20 minutes trying.

Ahhh yes, I know the world is 'normal' again because I'm once again on the phone to Santander to have them use the DD Indemnity to reverse some fraudulent Direct Debits.

Seems Stripe remain utterly incapable of figuring out that if the last ridiculous number of DDs setup against the account was not us, nor will future ones and perhaps the anti-fraud system could, uh, not let any DDs be setup against those details because THEY WILL NOT BE US.

@erkhyan And then people wounder why folks use Monero, when outside of SEPA, you only have bad (Stripe) or worse (PayPal) options and big CCs like VISA and MasterCard are ruled by prudish pricks which are just aware enough that pr0n and gambling is their lifeline that they expect "paymebt processors" as shims to claim "we don't know [pr0n/gambling site]!"

#Fintech unicorn Stripe just acquired (deal is now done) startup Bridge, a provider of infrastructure for crypto stablecoins for $1.1B.

Bridge, co-founded by Coinbase alumni Zach Abrams and Sean Yu, has built an API that helps companies accept stablecoins.

#job alert! We're hiring a #golang expert on my team at #stripe. Rare opportunity to break into the #DX space at the best in the biz.

It's fully #remote anywhere in US or Canada. Or, if you live in Toronto, you're welcome to go into the office there.

Happy to chat more if you know anyone who might be a good fit for the role. They'd work directly with me.

I've modified my WordPress instance so that my premium content will be hosted there in the future. I have only one premium article there right now, but I plan to migrate more from Ko-Fi.

Of course, the non-premium content is always available there.

*I'm no longer using Ko-Fi for new subscriptions.*

Everything as far as subscribing, donating, buying a login on my Mastodon instance is now on my blog. It talks directly to Stripe without having to go through Ko-Fi.

I haven't moved my French-language blog yet, but it should soon follow.
