Looking northwards along the shoreline towards Strzelecki Lookout above Bar Beach. The light is shimmering across the surface of the water and where it flows up the sand. Distant figures are walking along the beach while the silhouette of a surfer is about to enter the water.

Three swimmers in close to the beach. A surfer riding a wave further out (technically shouldn't be in the swimming area between the flags). Another surfer on the right paddling out. Blue green water with a wave swelling up but not quite breaking near the swimmers. A lot more churning white where the surfer is - he's probably close to bailing out at this point.

The surf life saving flags had just been planted by a lifeguard this morning as i started my beach walk. A surf lifesaving UAV operator also had a drone up, presumably monitoring surf conditions. #beach #ocean #Surf #BarBeach #CooksHill #NewcastleNSW

Looking southwards from Bar Beach towards Merewether from the concrete path just above the beach. There is a guy in red and yellow top and shorts standing on the sand holding controls for a drone (he's the UAV operator). A lifeguard in a light blue top is near the four flags he's just planted in the sand along with the white lifeguard board used for rescues. Bit of a hazy day but nice out.

There were more surfers on the harbour side of the breakwater and a fair few had stopped to check them out. That dog is a total mood! #surf #ocean #NewcastleNSW #NobbysBeach

A gorgeous brown and white border collie with the happiest expression waits next to his person, a barefooted dude in shorts and a tee. Further along, a long haired guy talks to a surfer in a grey wetsuit on a bike with a board under one arm. A guy in hi vis orange shirt props up a sign about safety on the breakwater. Everyone except the dog has their back to the camera, looking out along the breakwater.

Morgan Page, “Elevate” 2008

#MorganPage is a #DJ and producer who’s done remixes for other artists as well as creating and releasing #ElectronicMusic of his own…you know the type.

This album contains both Page’s own tracks featuring guest vocalists, and an assortment of his remixes. There’s a fair amount of #EDM stuff that doesn’t really grab me, but also some less head-pummelling gems.

My favorite is his #remix of “Sleepwalking Through the Mekong” by #LA-based #Cambodian-#surf--#psychedelic band #DengueFever (quite the niche!), whose original version became the centerpiece for soundtrack of the film of the same name, which attempts to connect the dots of their cross-cultural sound. Wait what?
