Thanks to a replacement box by Plakativ Druck and other stuff I already had (like the manual and warranty card), the #Commodore VIC-20 I got from @inlovewithpda is now again complete-in-box.

GTW Highlight No.17: In September, we recovered and saved Matthew Smith's long lost #VIC20 game Monster Muncher (missing 41 years). It was miraculously spotted in the Retro Computer Museum and was quite a recovery:

A few updates to the hardware project thingy.

Renamed as "Optical Data Channel..." because although vaguely amusing, "JellyLoad" isn't a terribly helpful title.

Also applied MIT open source license, free and easy do-what-you-like-pal whilst absolving me of any liability if you attempt to use the data and end up destroying the universe or something similarly daft.

… ribbon cables for hard drives… Master/Slave #SCSI termination… (mind screams in rebellion)… the little switch boxes to hook your original #Nintendo console or #VIC20 to a TV and then get headaches from staring at the TV CRT too closely…. a VIC-20 cassette drive with a box of about 150+ unlabeled tapes… painstakingly typed in from the listings in #BYTE magazines… Taking low-density 3.5″ floppies, and drilling/punching a hole through to double your storage and make them “high-density”…. the squeal of a modem (and trying to get the #IRQ conflicts resolved via changing jumper switches)… attempting to connect to #Datapac to try and reach unknown systems, running a #BBS inside a #DOS box, on #386(SX) #Windows 3.0 machine, Setting up your own #UUCP #internet over #dialup…

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain…

My #VIC20 had a replacement power LED that was far far too bright. It was ridiculous. See first photo.

So I purchased some ancient stock of HP manufactured LEDs (a pack of 3) to use a more appropriate replacement.

My prototype "#Commodore Trinity" stack with my #SuperStarTrek running on each system.

This is made of sturdy corrugated, but will make the final version from plywood, I think. To be used at events etc.
