You might believe that there are literally #NatureSpirits- entities of Life/Energy that surround us or you may feel this is a metaphor for the awe/respect we feel for the natural world, the complex unfolding of natural rhythms/ processes.
A short video + a couple of rough sketches expanding on the idea in the video (maybe later I'll have time to do a proper drawing). These are Laumas- kind of #woodland #fairy #fate guardian or cautionary spirit

Looking down at a smallish old tree stump in a snowy woodland with low afternoon light coming from one side, casting blue shadows on the snow. The stump rises just a hand or two above the snow, has some snow on top and is covered in moss and lichens. It is ringed by a handful of skinny poplar saplings and wild rose stems. I suggest in the video that if we see with more than our eyes perhaps we will see this as fairies or sprites dancing around a mossy altar.

The two on the left are lost in the dance, celebration, reverence, one looking up, one down. The faces are simplified, and suggestive of ancient Christian iconography. They represent the sacred and transcendant. The figure on the right looks directly at the viewer, an interloper in this sacred grove, sacred woodland. She/they has a flat or even menacing expression, reminding us that the Laumas, the forest spirits, also guard against those of greedy or ill intentions.

More colour and background have been added. The figures are outlined in blue, navy, violet, bodies filled in a bit with palest blue and yellow with white, reflecting their snowy surroundings. These icey colours continue on the ground and around them, up into the evergreen trees behind them and the golden and dull green of the trees continues a bit on the figures especially their hair. Hail Freya! Here's my 89th #FridayPaganPoll!

I consider there to be 4 broad categories of Pagans:

*Witch- Eclectic, Wicca, Wheel of the Year, folk magick, god-worship is optional.
*Polytheist- Devotional, religious studies, deity and pantheon worship, prayers and offerings, magick is optional.
*Occultist- Thelema, alchemy, ceremonial magick, trances, summonings, experiments.
*Animist- Nature-worship, seasonal celebration, meditation, spending time outdoors, minimal magick or god-worship.

@vlrny thanks! The goddess drawings are close to my heart -I have a bunch of them, based on ancient artifacts (and interpretations) from the archaeology and archaeomythology work of Marija Gimbutas

Drawing based on an ancient pottery figure- a smallish slightly conical figure with a proportionately large slightly pointy head, wide neck and short body, arms are barely a suggestion and there is a slightly inset base rather than feet or legs. It is kind of as if she is wearing a robe, but maybe it is just her body; she has blob like breasts also. Eyes are slanted and featureless (more like holes), there is a nose with nostrils and an open mouth. The original figure this was based on was probably a vessel for pouring water or other liquids out the mouth hole. Because of that and also the rather geometric markings around the 'waist' (also a 'necklace) which had symbolic meaning, she has been interpreted as possibly a Water Goddess. She is painted in earthy brown tones with light highlights and charcoaly shadows. Acrylic tempera with various coloured pencils and pastel etc sticks have been used. The background is painted in muted reds to the left, blending to dull violet on the right, not fully reaching the bottom of the paper.

Sunday- day of the #AutumnEquinox was a bit rainy off and on, so I didn't do my main seasonal/remembrance altar (that was yesterday instead, posts yet to come!). Instead, I went for a bit of a #SlowWalk and made an impromptu altar with some odds and ends I picked up along the way-added to a bench that had bits of wood I kept aside from last winter's woodcutting. Stones and leaves are shiny wet, and the wood bench surface has a a thin layer of water reflecting bright highlights from the grey sky.

I was born in the early 80s. I have lived in the US states of #Louisiana, #Georgia, and #Kentucky. I have a bachelor's degree in English.

I don't always have tons of time to scroll and see what else is going on, so I often click on the profiles/pages of folks who say /post something interesting- with vagaries of internet, new member influx etc- that doesn't always work well (sometimes cannot comment or favourite when I might like to!), but I have 'met' cool people. Always open to more interaction- esp into serious #PlantNerds various kinds of #heathens, #pagans etc-- I think of myself as an #animist, but just in my own way!
