Windy walk today on Arran, along the king's caves.
One of the caves is full of cairns, it's like they are attending a busy meeting 
It was cold and windy but really nice
After sunset: first, the waxing crescent moon and Venus; then a few minutes later, Saturn becomes visible between them.

#Lochranza #Castle on #Arran is an exuberant mix of colours and textures. The stones are mostly green and purplish Dalradian rocks, with pale red Permian #sandstone tarting up the door and window frames, along with random bursts of colour elsewhere, as if the builders were playing.

Meallach's Grave on #Arran is one of many Neolithic and early Bronze Age monuments tucked away around the island. I reckon there's more hiding under the peat yet to be rediscovered.
Waiting at Troon to board the MV Alfred home to Arran. She's a twin hull on loan to Calmac while we wait for, well, some other boat to become available... (long story and a long wait...)
The boats have been off all morning due to strong winds but looks like my crossing will sail

I don't normally get seasick, but for some reason twin hulled vessels = guaranteed nausea, so although I'm glad to be heading home, I'm looking forward to the journey with trepidation! 
Only people who live on Scottish Islands will understand why I'm travelling to the Lake District for a job that finishes on Friday 
, but I also have with me a bag packed with shorts, bikini, cragging gear and passport 
for a holiday that starts on Monday.
