The command line is pretty simple: ultra.exe profile -- myexe.exe arg0 arg1
And it will create a json.gz file that you can open with https://profiler.firefox.com/
You can even share online the result of the profile!!! https://share.firefox.dev/3Cya7YW
Here we go! Just released ultra, a new advanced profiler for .NET Applications https://github.com/xoofx/ultra
Provides deep insights when profiling your .NET application including full native, kernel, and managed call stacks, JIT/GC event markers, memory allocation tracks, shareable traces online and more!!!
I'm a bit rushing to release it today, as I have a day off, so that's a good way to spend my spare time!
So, my previous Mastodon host has pulled the plug, necessitating the migration to a new provider.
So with nothing further to do, here's my re #Introduction...
I'm into #SoftwareDevelopment, #WebDevelopment, #InfoSec, #VanLife, #CanalBoats (#Widebeam) and #GeoPolitics.
I develop #Windows #desktop and #web based #applications, #games and #websites using various combinations of the .NET (#DotNET) Framework, C# (#CSharp), #WPF, vanilla #JavaScript, #HTML, #CSS, #SQLServer, blah, blah, blah
First sneak peek at an upcoming .NET aware open-source profiler (ETW based, so Windows only!) that will be interfaced with the Firefox Profiler UI https://profiler.firefox.com/
Pretty excited about this because it will give a similar interface to Superluminal (not as good, but good enough!) but it will come with additional details in the timeline: memory, GC and JIT ETW event markers!
For example, in the following screenshot, it distinguishes native, kernel and managed code
