Yesterday, talking with @rina about using dark humor to cope, I wondered about how different cultures approach this. So I ask you:

Would this be acceptable/normal in your country?

I'm giving context and story in the Alt

I was in the hospital for months (you can see my hospital's blanket covering my legs on the bed), in pain, unable to eat for weeks, until they finally took away my intravenous nutrition and started giving me liquid food. I was starving and eager to at least be able to drink.

On my legs rests a tray, containing a small bowl of broth and a tiny brick of juice.
On the hand I wasn't using to take the pic, I hold the fork and knife they gave me to eat that menu.

The irony made me cry laughing, I sent the pic to my friends and they also laughed. At me, of course, but more so *with* me, we know that they've got my back. And this isn't a manly macho thing, women reacted the same way.
It's a nice memory that lightens a fucked up time of my life.
