Built 1511-24, wholly of granite, the hardest of stones. Exterior almost entirely decorated with carvings. This is probably the best example of how beautifully carved granite can be.

The Chikanishing Trail, Killarney Provincial Park Ontario Canada was a rough, rugged trail over rocky terrain and the odd rickety, weathered wooden bridge or boardwalk. The fall foliage was stunning especially with the pink granite. Click link to view for #FreeShipping North America on #wallart

Granite galore in this Dartmoor church, including this delightful small door with round-headed arch, simple roll moulding and decorated spandrels with date 1705. Absolutely splendid.

External doorway into church, with rounded arch on which are a star and the numbers 170 on the left and the number 5 and a star on the right. Around the edge of the arch are carved lines. The uprights are plain except for carved lines on the inner edge. Within the doorway is a wooden plank door with iron studs, handle and lock.

I don't normally post ads on social media, but this might be of interest to anyone interested in #geology in the #Glasgow area. I am selling a free-standing island kitchen unit (cupboard/drawers) with an absolutely stunning #granite (actually #gneiss ) top 127x86cm. It's beautifully polished and lovely minerals such as garnets, pyrite & pyroxene (?) are visible. Truly a spectacular top but I will have nowhere to put it .

Base units high quality, vgc, white

What do you think it's trying to point out?

View of a lake in the woods with boulders along the shoreline. There’s a big mass of rocks at bottom of photo with an arrow shaped top of one sticking out of the water. It seems almost too perfectly shaped to have been some geological coincidence, with a basic arrow shape sticking out of water four inches, then a 3 inch inset and a smaller arrow rising an inch or two higher.
