Talking about dyeing with plants... Here is the easiest way to get a nice plant print on fabric. Toddler shirts with unexplainable stains made me try to put more stains on those shirts to prolong their life just a bit. I'm trying to use everything until it lasts and reuse, recycle and upcycle to last a little longer, waste less, buy less. I hate to throw out those perfectly usable shirts that just look terribly dirty because of plant, fruit and berry stains that happens in enormous amounts for kids who live outdoors whole summer long. Well, pretty plant stains put on shirts with the hammer stay pretty for about 3-4 times in the washing machine.

I was dreaming to hammer plants on a table cloth last summer, but I didn't get there. This is an easy way to get the juices of plants on textiles you aren't planning to wash too often. Doll fabrics, a tie, maybe... altar cloths?

It's also a productive way to release anger, frustration and agression. I hope you will give it a try.

The mallet I made two years ago from firewood logs is returning to its original purpose, splitting after lots of hard use.

Made a new head from green applewood. Heard somewhere it's clever to make the handle from dry and the head from green wood so the head shrinks onto the handle. We'll find out if this works. I suspect it might just crack. Or shrink away from the handle. Time will tell.

Anyways, I can whack stuff again!

A largeish wooden mallet made from two birch pieces. The handle is fine but the head is splitting apart, pieces cracked off already and the core is starting to come out of the log. It looks well worn and got a bit dirty from use.
The same handle, now without the broken head. Next to it a piece of apple log of suitable size, debarked about two thirds with an old but sharpened draw knife that lies amongst a pile of bark shavings. The whole setup is on a plank table outdoors. Hidden in the shavings is a piece of steel wedged in the crack between two planks, serving as bench dog to keep the log from sliding as the draw knife pulls on it.

This shouldn’t be construed as antifascist violence being entirely off limits. Part of this nazi’s eviction from the area involved elderly veterans literally threatening to murder him.
It’s alright (good, even!) to abhor violence, but dangerous to pretend it’s never appropriate or necessary.

In one fell swoop, state actors consistently manage to lend credence to fascists’ incessant bad faith talking points about “censorship”; while also introducing new, unnecessary legal tools which, given the obvious political sympathies of US law enforcement, will definitely be used to target antifascists to a much greater & more aggressive extent.

  • Ceph, like #HAMMER & #HAMMER2 was specifically designed to be a #cluster #filesystem, whereas ZFS & #btrfs are designed for single-device, local storage options.

  • OFC I did see and even setup some "cursed" stuff like Ceph on ZFS myself, and yes, that is a real deployment run by a real corporation in production...
