Last year at this time I was consuming up to 38 kWh on a cold night to warm my home.

Installed heat pump, been significantly colder this year at the same time as last year:

Household consumption around 16 kWh.

or around 5 kWh more than an average unheated, uncooled day of temperatures around 50-68F in September. Easily offset by solar if the sun is out.

Rough estimates of course, and today the wind chill temperature will get down to -9F but we'll see how it goes.

I have my TV setup in my basement, which is nice in the summer, but a little chilly in the winter.

Getting a ceiling mounted (400watt? 800watt?) panel and mounting it over the sofa _feels_ like it might be far more efficient than using a space heater to heat up all the air molecules in my basement.
