#obsidian

checking in to let y’all know am doing well. i’ve just been lost in a whirlwind of productivity with that damn #obsidian app.

JFC this is what my #ADHD addled brain needed all thesr years. every vault i have set up is like a separate app, thanks to the myriad plugins developed for it.

i still don't have pat down a daily workflow, and that's what i’ve been focusing on these past weeks; but hot damned, I FEEL SEEN with this app. it ain't prefect, but i feel seen.

I was up around 4:30am EST this morning, which is pretty normal for me. Of course I decided to get some video game time in as I normally do before the work day starts at 11am.

I managed to finish The Outer Worlds. It's a game I had never played until I started it a week or so ago. Absolutely fun game and definitely now very excited for The Outer Worlds 2 later this year.

@amerpie I use tags in #Obsidian, but not nested ones. For me, I organize therapy knowledge, and my table of contents files are organized around the type of information it is, such as whether it’s about laws in my state or how to do a particular intervention technique. I use tags to cross cut across those with things like “this is about OCD” or “this is about pre-teens”. I don’t have a need to get nested within those, at least for now.

I just published the source code for my very naive #Python implementation for generating a node network based on MITRE Intrusion Sets and Techniques. It will output linked #Markdown files linking intrusion sets to their used techniques.

Perhaps someone finds it useful or interesting to experiment with.

I hinted at this in a thread started by @Viss where he asked for input on a few very likely malicious domains. Me @Viss @cR0w @neurovagrant and others did some OSINT fun work with a couple of the original domains.

It was this thread: mastodon.social/@Viss/11414512

Now I posted a picture of a node network rendered in Obsidian and I hinted that perhaps Obsidian could be used as a poor mans version of performing threat intelligence work.

Yes to Obsidian... I copied the exported Markdown files from Bear to a folder on the Linux laptop and can open & use all the notes just fine.

So the next idea would be to automate the process by scheduling the Mac to export all the files and move them to a volume that Obsidian can use as a vault.

The whole idea here being I can use Bear, but still access my notes while using Linux.

is there really no simple way to mass import #wikipedia articles (complete) into #Obsidian?

the Media DB plugin just sticks an iFrame in there, and other plugins just grab the first paragraph. Is it so much more complex than some regex from mediawiki markdown to obsidian markdown?

I've been using Anytype for a few days now. There are things I really like about it (and the org) and I'll probably use it in my workflow (and it will replace Notion) but I'm not sure it'll work for as a general notebook for me.

I really prefer a big blank text area like Bear or Obsidian uses, with really good markdown support. I've not been able to get that smoothly in Anytype yet.

The "everything is an object" just seems more database driven in how it works.

One issue with images that software ought to deal with is file size. Photos are typically way too big in their original form. Note apps need to make a copy of the inserted photo and resize that copy to be smaller. Does #Obsidian do this?

Who uses #Obsidian here? I wonder how well "sync" works so that one can use Obsidian between mobile and PC.
I'm also a person who needs visuals to stay engaged with some text. Not especially tech-savvy. (How) have you found a way to regularly incorporate images in your notes?
