First two days of PleinAirpril and over a month into the 100 Day Project (that I let slip a bit - whoops)

I joined a local Urban Sketchers group yesterday and after living so long in a place where there was none, it was so nice and refreshing to meet likeminded creative people.

Can't wait for the next meetup...

Also as you can see I chose some very nice urban architecture as a subject with lots of colorful trash cans. It was a blast! (Kind of accidentally inspired others to paint them too. ooops)

Sketchbook with open pages held in a hand with a small dirty take out building and a row of trashcans. The painting in the sketchbooks shows the scene in loose lines and some bright colors highlighting the trash cans. A lady stands at the counter of the building in the sketch, which is long gone in the photo. Where did she go? Why didn't she buy anything? We will never know. But for a short moment she was captured in this loose sketch with no name, a silhouette of a friend, we haven't met yet.

going out to paint this tree. It’s been a struggle, since the weather is very capricious right now, switching from overcast to sunlit in mere seconds. Despite the challenge, I am pleased with aspects of this.
A mother came along with her kids and told me that I was very talented and I should do something with that. Well, I told her that I am painting a picture.

Allaprima Oilpainting made on location of a moss covered tree. The background is kept really rough design wise but the colors are kept quite realistic. 18 x 24 cm made in 3 hours.

Been painting this overpass today. Photographing this painting proved kind of impossible, partly because the colors sunk in a lot. I am still quite unsure about this one…

Pleinair Oilpainting of an overpass. One sees stairs in the middle- and a couple houses in the background. The technique is quite splotchy and the colors very brown.

It was quite a challenge, starting with choosing a frame and staying in position myself, shadows moving and the #redkite which wouldn't stand still (:
