I'm back after a comedy of errors for my little Raspberry Pi, where mastodon have lived for a few years.

3 things pretty much happened at the same time. The router that the Pi lives behind, got an update that threw the settings that pointed to the pi out of sync.

Something cause the nginx server to fail to load problery and therefore gave 502 error and other timeouts.

And last but not least the free dns service, I had running pointing to the pi, stopped sending http trafic to the Pi, where telnet, wget and ssh etc happily were pasted onwards when I wanted to play with sudomakecake.ddns.net.

Hence, the update to a VPS and sudomakecake.com, since the Pi struggled with updating mastodon and the traffic over wifi. Now its retired to IRC and backup duties which should result in less faff/stress/downtime for me.

Sadly I looks like I have lost access to the old install and therefore can't get my posts or followers and followings in a easy way, so have to build it up manually.

Whether you're religious or anti-religious, if you want to convince me that you have something good to offer me and others, if you approach me with violence, aggression, hostility, and supercilious arrogance, I will tune you out.

Because the world is full of those things and those of us repulsed by them seek alternatives to them from anyone promising us good solutions, not echoes of them.

I agree with Jessica Grose. Religious bodies can exercise great cruelty and do horrific injustice. I know this personally as someone who has worked for church institutions and experienced deplorable discrimination in them.

Religious people have much to learn from non-religious and anti-religious people including atheists. One can be a profoundly moral person and have no religious faith at all.

Jessica Grose notes the compelling reasons many younger people are turning their backs on organized religion — she points, in particular, to the horror show of sexual abuse of minors and its coverup in the Catholic church.

But she laments the effects of this rejection of religious institutions for the following reasons:

Hi and welcome to the #Fediverse to all #newcomers! 💕

🤸🏻 I am Tommi, the administrator of Pan, a tiny, cozy, friendly, #antiFascist, 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 #transFeminist, and #antiCapitalist instance. 🚀

👾 As you are wandering around this whimsical space, I know it might be a bit confusing and hard to figure it out. 🤯

Just give yourselves time! 🧘🏾 This place does not follow the algorithmic rules of mainstream, billionaire-owned, centralized social networks. 🤖

Actually, the Fediverse has no rules at all! ✨ Every community chooses their own principles and governance. If there is anything you are not comfortable with, you are completely free to move anywhere you want, without losing the people you are in touch with.

If you believe you share the vibe and the values of #Pan (this instance), we would be super happy to welcome you! Just get in touch with me however you want. It is of paramount importance that we all spread around, populating smaller servers, rather than flooding big ones.

Have fun and be excellent to each other!
