Still standing
These coneflowers keep on giving! Dead months ago, dry and covered with snow, emerging again in the last days, now frozen in an ice storm. And always a good subject for photography!
Last year our friend C was passing our house on their way to another foraging adventure and reportedly saluted the flag and said, "Hello, rural queers"...before realizing it was our house.

Looks like we are lucky to still have power. My thoughts are with those in Ontario who spent the night without heat and still no electricity to start their day 
Another shout-out and thanks to all the Hydro crews, Emergency crews, and Essential (often underpaid) workers that are working overtime right now.
Well, it's been 24 hours since the power went out.
Very fortunate to have backups, neighbours, and to live in a place that understands that by cooperatively working together we can get through this faster than if we each work independently or competitively.
I mention that we haven't seen any moss with ice on it and within a minute find this little ball.

Ryan Hall says there's a pretty good chance of an ice storm next week. Kentucky looks like it's right in the middle. Where I live in Southern Tennessee is on the far south edge of the potential zone. Looks like Asheville might get something too, ug
