13 years on December 28, 2011 Turkey carried out the Roboski massacre killing dozens of Kurdish civilians in the city of Uludere, southeast Turkey.
More than half of the victims were children.

Important we keep a close eye on the #Syrian situation, notably what happens to #Rojava & the #Kurds. The #Kurdish people of NE #Syria assembled a fairly egalitarian, multiethnic, #secular #democracy in their autonomous region, but Erdogan and Turkey will be gunning to dismantle it. #defendrojava

A Turkish drone strike in a Kurdish-held area in northern Syria killed 11 civilians including six children, a war monitor said Monday. The attack comes a day after Islamist-led rebels ousted president Bashar al-Assad in a lightning offensive that saw them sweep swathes of territory from government control. Their commander #Golani is trying to keep his "image" under control, but it is hard to imagine that he would, eg., sign a peace agreement with #Israel as future president (maybe?) and thus bring peace and stability to the regions...
The other forces in the north and east are the fairly autonomous #SDF (the American-backed opposition in the Kurdish areas). The question of autonomy, independence, or inclusion of the #Kurds will certainly be areas of friction in the future in Syria...

Remember the people of Halabja today. Remember the #Kurds, #Assyrians, and #Yazidis who were murdered and displaced during the Anfal #genocide. Spare a thought for others whose oppression is being exploited to justify Western warmaking and continues unabated.
