Meine erste Orchidee des Jahres. Ein Purpur-Knabenkraut. Die Sonne war so gnädig den Baum im Hintergrund bei Sonnenaufgang zu erwischen. Und das Foto hat mal wieder bewiesen, dass ein Polfilter auch für solche Fotos praktisch ist. Bringt die Farben einfach besser raus.

My very rare find of a rare lichen during the last few days.
It is the second observation of the Branching Pixie Pebblehorn Lichen (Cladonia decorticata) reported on iNaturalist for all of Canada.
Some specimens of this lichen have been found in Alaska.

This little orange poppy has blown into my garden by itself and has spread itself in a pleasant way over the past few years. I never find it too much. They are not yet in bloom but that will not last long. And as it is now, that slender and delicate, I also like to photograph that. On a black background a small poppy in bud. The delicate thin stem with a bud at the bottom, bends from the right of the middle to the left. You are looking at the flower bud that is already a little open. You can already see some orange of the flower. Around the bud and the stem hairs light up because of the sun. At the bottom of the stem a few leaves, very light green because the sun shines through them.

On the left half a rolled up fern leaf rises from below like a question mark. At the top the rolled up leaf. Small very light brown bumps rolled up in a spiral. Around it are reddish brown (almost like hair) leaves wrapped around the spiral. On the dark green background vaguely a few already rolled out fern leaves. On the right a second leaf goes from bottom left to top right. The end bent like a hook with a small ball at the bottom that still has to unroll. The fern on the left is very sharp, catches the most light and therefore seems to come forward from the photo.

I'm finding that a lot of colour and details are lost when I upload pictures. Anyone having the same issue? I'm saving them with standard web HD resolution. They look fine on my computer but loose quite a bit after upload. I've tried with both JPG and PNG. Any suggestions for #pixelfed uploads? Meta has their own image processing magic that really helps.

Lange nach Sonnenuntergang. Hatte schon länger vor mal etwas mehr deutlich nach Sonnenuntergang oder deutlich vor Sonnenaufgang zu fotografieren. Blumenfotografie im Düsteren. Bisschen kompliziert das alles, schließlich braucht es auch noch künstliches Licht für das Hauptmotiv. Aber wenn's klappt, scheint es ganz cool aussehen zu können. Muss ich öfters probieren.

The purple flowers of the Bergenia purpurea in my garden at the moment. In my garden, the Bergenia with its large shiny leaves replaces the Hosta, which in my garden is usually eaten by snails after a month. Large leaves give a border peace, so in my garden the Bergenia does that. The snails leave them alone and they are also evergreen and have beautiful autumn colours. A bunch of 5 small purple flowers of the Bergenia on a black background. You look at it from the side. The branch is red and hangs with the flowers downwards, in the middle of the photo. The flowers are not completely open, which makes them look like calyxes. The sepals are certainly as beautiful as the flowers. The part at the stem is spherical and red in color. From that sphere, green leaves close around the purple calyx. The largest part of the branch with flowers is sharp, especially the texture of the sepals stands out well.
