Talking with the folks in the local #vintage / #retrocomputing community, they clued me in that the #ThinkPad #RAID is a steaming pile of 💩 and not worth the trouble.

🤷 Oh well. Thanks for cluing me in

So I swapped out the two testing #NVMe drives I was using and reinstalled the original sticks - to have #windoz10 demanding for the #bitlocker recovery key. 🤦‍♂️

Well, time to wipe & install #windoz11 then.

Install went fine, only 4 rando #drivers to find for all #devices to be recognized and working.

Using my #CTT scripts to install the majority of applications, then to remove the #spyware #bloatware and other garbage #micro$oft added to #windows11

Then migrate my #data from my other ThinkPad. Welcome to my #sunday #funday

I hope Central/East European folk (especially those in Ukraine and neighbouring countries) pay back Musk by #reverseengineering every last bit of a #Tesla (whether or not he approves), so an independent #aftermarket can be created for parts that doesn't fund the company - there are going to be plenty of crashed Teslas for stripping soon, as folk sell them and they find their way into the hands of young "bro" types who previously bought used BMWs (and aren't the most careful #drivers)

2,1 metres is a tight fit, even in my VW Polo I would have only 20cm either side, but I'm amazed at how many #drivers in relatively small cars were crashing into the bollards - I wonder if they were stubbornly determined to drive at the full 20mph (32 km/h) rather than slow down further for the obvious hazard ahead? #RoadSafety #Watford #Hertfordshire

My #motoring books from late 1950s/60s (often written by retired rally drivers who started out riding #bicycles) advise giving space to #cyclists as part of safe #driving and emphasise they are also road users, but also hint there was some tension developing between #drivers and cyclists, so its not anything new, but something that has been growing for over half a century.. #RoadSafety #UK

I'm not surprised #UK government is not planning #GDL (graduated #DrivingLicence ) - although well intentioned, many young #drivers would be in exemption categories (parents, working long hours in health/social care or hospitality), it would require further extensive #surveillance to audit them (and could push them towards supporting "car-friendly" ReformUK) - what is needed instead is better #RoadSafety #education and more effective roads policing in #rural areas..

One thing I gleaned from those FB comments (and checking news reports ) was several confirming my suspicions the #Police do not often conduct #drugs tests at weekends, but wait until midweek looking out for sleep-deprived #drivers making minor #driving errors and those who neglected #maintenance (driving with defective lights etc), and people are nicked for testing positive 4-5 days after the weekend due to *very* low tolerated limits even if their driving isn't seriously impaired..

Folk on #UK #car / #motoring forums are going apeshit about plans by #Scotland plans to reduce #SpeedLimits for smaller #cars on single-carriageway #roads (but to increase them for #lorries / #HGV to the same limits as #England )

I suspect a lot of these #drivers have got used to treating rural roads as their personal racetrack, and are annoyed that #PoliceScotland may be taking more action against #speeding
