"A refreshing new voice on the #literary front has released a modern #fantasy where ancient #Hebrew #mysticism comes alive on the streets of #NewYork.

THE SANHEDRIN CHRONICLES by J.S. Gold offers a unique take on the fantasy genre, combining elements of mysticism, #faith, and #adventure.

Packed with #action,# mystery, and #Jewish #folklore, THE SANHEDRIN CHRONICLES is a compelling read for fans of urban fantasy and #religious #mythology."

Being human is a tough business. We are—as far as we know—the only species fully aware of our own mortality. So why is it so hard for us to treat one another kindly? We’re all in the same metaphorical boat. Many of the tales in my new collection are meditations on this key idea. Not an original notion, but one that we need to remember in a crass age when hypocrisy and cruelty is routinely ignored by our leaders.

"With the new year comes new #Jewish #books we’re excited about, and 2025 is promising quite the eclectic collection. From #literary #novels to #memoirs to historical #fiction to poetry to reported biographies, there’s really something for everyone on this list. We’ve loaded this to lean heavily toward the first half of the year (even including a few titles that are already available because they came out last week!), but if you’re into this collection, we’ll be sure to put together more reading lists for your enjoyment all year long."

Hey Alma · 27 Jewish Books We’re Excited About in 2025By Hey Alma Staff

"The currently active English-language #Jewish writers must choose between two mid-sized ponds. Either you join up with the #literary community for #Palestine or the literary community for the-fight-against-#antisemitism. Either you’re aligned with the indie bookstores and the MFA professors and the Bluesky-posting scolds with literary friends and #FreePalestine in their bios, or you’re aligned with some coalition of anti-woke gazillionaires (despite, if you’re a working writer, not being a gazillionaire or close yourself), woke-but-for-this-issue influencers, and genuinely terrified #Jews who are neither rich nor anti-woke but don’t know where else to turn. The cringe expression, politically homeless, comes to mind, but it isn’t quite that. Some of these are #writers who just want to write, and not to have to function as poorly informed experts on geopolitics."

Professor Ha Jin put a perfect end to our Sep lecture. ’The baggage of one‘s homeland is too heavy; it should be like a pair of shoes, allowing us to tread lightly on our journey.’ he mused and share with one of our readers. Though four decades have passed since he left his native soil, and despite garnering numerous prestigious literary accolades in America while writing in English, Ha Jin confesses that the ties to his homeland still bind him. Ha Jin posits the nation is not the ultimate meaning. His life‘s work as a writer has been a constant quest to reconstruct and explore the essence of existence. Embracing spirituality while respecting diverse beliefs, he exhorts the youth to forge their own values. All things are in flux, he warns; one must not allow the roots of home to become true shackles. #哈金 #故土的束縛 #季風書園 #季風 #季風講壇 #季风书园 #季风 #上海季风 #九月講座 #美國文學 #中國作家 #jfbooks #literary #diasporawriter #culturalidentity #dupontcircle

I still feel like a #newbie partly because I never did get 'into' Twitter. I joined Nov 19th. So I am still looking for colleagues and friends in the #writingcommunity here. I have been #writing seriously since 1976, though I certainly penned #poetry and #fiction before that. My #craft includes #drawing and I tend to my #indoorgarden and my #dog and 2 #cats . I founded an online international #literary #magazine in Jan 2006 and ran it until Sept 2016, so I developed my #editor skills as well.
