Sam Johnston<p>My reason for rejecting the <a href="https://mas.to/tags/OSAID" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OSAID</span></a> is that it doesn’t protect the four essential freedoms of free software — to use, study, modify, and share — and as such cannot function as the foundation of the next generation of models.</p><p>OSAID-compliant models are like the GM crops of our generation that render everyone clients to US-based BigTech, which is a particularly urgent problem now under Trump with the trifecta of:<br> - deregulation<br> - IP protection<br> - protectionism</p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://infosec.exchange/@florenciocano" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>florenciocano</span></a></span></p>

«Open Source Initiative legt KI-Definition vor:
Die Open Source Initiative hat festgelegt, welche Informationen KI-Anbieter offenlegen müssen, um tatsächlich Open-Source zu sein.»

Den Begriff Open-Source wird schon lange für kommerziellen Marketing missbraucht. Was dies nun wirklich ist und was nicht ist von @osi¹ detailiert aufgelistet und erklärt.

Comparing it to #OpenSource Software, the head of the #OSI says:

"#AI needs similar freedom to flourish."

Except that the Free Software & Open Source movements were (until recently!) not about the freedom of technology of its makers. It was all about the needs & liberation of those using that technology.

Now the very group self-charged with protecting OSS weaken it.

IMHO the disappointing #OSAID catastrophe is a great example of what happens when you de-center everyday people from strategy.
