Elon Musk Is Trying to Buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court

“His attack on democracy isn’t limited to gutting the federal government. He wants it all.”
motherjones.com/politics/2025/

"a #DarkMoney group backed by #Musk, is spending at least $1.6 million in support of #Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel, a conservative judge in suburban Milwaukee running for an open seat in an April election that will decide whether #progressives or #conservatives control the #court."

I'm not a fan of Rachel Shabi and disagree with her a lot, including with parts of this article. But she is circling an important recognition of the left ceding the ground of antisemitism to the right. To all our detriment.

"With the #farright in ascendancy across the world, #Jewish people turned to leftist movements that had long served as our political homes—and found them not only lacking the language to speak to what was happening but also often mired in ignorance over #antisemitism. As American communications specialist Sharon Goldtzvik told me: “We as #progressives should be leading on the issue of antisemitism, but it has become a critical vulnerability, rather than a critical strength.’” This Achilles heel has been seized upon by the #rightwing, derailing #progressive #movements and thwarting efforts at social, economic, and climate #justice across the world."

The Nation · Some Inconvenient Truths About Antisemitism and the LeftBy ceding the space on antisemitism—responding when we are accused of it, but not taking up the fight against it as our cause—we’ve created a strategic opportunity for the right.

I'd like to take this opportunity to recognize once again my fellow #liberals and #progressives who sat out the #election in #November because, in their ignorance, they didn't like President's Biden support of #Israel.

It's been one day—ONE DAY—and we've already seen the Bronzed Bastard pardoning the violent #seditionists of #Jan6; blocking the arrival of already-approved #refugees from #Afghanistan, including those who directly helped the US in our efforts and are at tremendous risk under the #Taliban; attempting to kill the right of #citizenship guaranteed by the #Constitution; and nominating #Christofascists for key #cabinet positions.

Every liberal who stayed home on Nov 5th is just as much an accessory to these horrors as any ignorant, red-hatted, pickup-truck driving white Republican voter. Congratulations: you've made America meaner, and weaker.

Why did silicon valley tune right? programmablemutter.com/p/why-d Its all about the $$$ & #power - A significant chunk of the #SiliconValley #techindustry has shifted to the right over the last few years. Why did this happen? Noah Smith and Matt Yglesias think they have the answer. Both have amplified the argument of a Marc Andreessen tweet, arguing that #progressives are at fault, for alienating their “staunch progressive allies” in the tech industry.

Programmable Mutter · Why did Silicon Valley turn right?By Henry Farrell

“Even if Democrats did have more institutional integrity, they would still find it challenging to simultaneously be a party of big business and organized labo,…still struggle to turn out Arab voters…while sending Israel weapons to bomb their families…. More often than not, these constituencies’ interests are fundamentally opposed to one another; no amount of smart messaging…can fully solve that.”

The New Republic · The Time-Honored Tradition of Blaming the Left for Democratic DefeatsThis argument is particularly unconvincing this time around. And it doesn’t offer a realistic prescription for future success.

So, as I edit this early Thursday, November 14, 2024:

The #Republicans have won the #UnitedStates #Presidency through #DonaldTrump

The Republicans control the United States #Senate

The Republicans have apparently taken the US #HouseOfRepresentatives 218 seats to 208, with 218 seats needed to control

And, through #LeonardLeo and the #FederalistSociety the Republicans control the United States #SupremeCourt #SCOTUS

So that's it. Game over

The Republican party will control all three branches -- Executive, Legislative, and Judicial -- of the #FederalGovernment

The only faint bit good news is that John Thune (R) of South Dakota will be the next Senate majority leader

#Trump and #MAGA Republicans had put a great deal of pressure on the senators to back Florida senator Rick Scott, but he marshaled fewer votes than either Thune or John Cornyn of Texas

Thune is a distinctly *non* MAGA Republican

#Trump and #RFKjr and #ElonMusk will be coming after the Administrative branch this winter

Good job, #America, with a special shout-out to affluent, far left urban #Progressives who were too cool about not being #LibbedOut to vote for *any* Democrat:

You just shot yourself in the head

Hope the sting goes away in a couple days

Maybe take two aspirin

"Let’s take that number-one narrative, which is I was taught to treat everyone the same. You know, actually no one was - or could be taught to treat everyone the same. We can’t do it. We don’t do it."

"A white progressive generally believes niceness is all that it takes. As long as I’m nice and friendly, I’m finished. And niceness not only is not courageous. But niceness is not going to get racism on the table."

This video should explain all for why people like us don't want to #VoteBlue for #KamalaHarris & #TimWalz as well the entire #DemocraticParty for supporting a #Genocide on #Palestine for #Israel but also are attacking us who resist #Imperialism.

Pay clear attention #Liberals & #Democrats who're apart of #BlueMAGA!

#Trump Suggests Giving Cops ‘One Really #Violent Day’ to Stop Crime

During yet another anti-migrant rant, Trump falsely claimed crime is up & so cops should be allowed to be “extraordinarily rough”

[you know he’s only talking about violence against #protests, democratic #protesters, #progressives, #immigrants, & non-white people]
