One month ago today I was in a car accident and my life crumbled around me.
There were no injuries and not my fault but led to me being unemployed and facing homelessness.
With the incredible kindness of one person here on Mastodon and a relentless non-stop search for employment I managed to find a job, pay my rent, and get this train back on the tracks.
I am so very thankful for all of you who have given me support in my darkest hour. It really has made a difference.
This #Christmas feels a lot more like #Thanksgiving.
Three weeks ago, my world crumbled and disappeared. Unemployed, potentially no vehicle, genuinely facing homelessness.
Soul crushingly bleak.
I am so incredibly thankful that in the following days, someone here on Mastodon gave me a leg up, I found a job and now I have a brand new life.
If that's not something to be thankful for this Christmas, I dunno what is.

I'm #Thankful for #HomeAssistant keeping a history of my heating - I'm going to test if keeping it warmer will actually result in the heat coming on less (or for less time). I feel like this worked last winter.
It appears #winter has showed up with lows in the 20s for a bit and even a dip into the teens on Monday.
Got to be thankful that the cold held off until we got our services and major roads back together.

Like, for example, I used to get them all the time as a kid. (I promise, I wasn't getting messed with. I just have sensitive plumbing.) Every time I took a bath, until I whittled down my bathing products to glycerine soap and baby shampoo. Ah, it was bliss to get to take showers instead and to learn that that kept the germs at bay.
And how did I stop getting UTIs and cavities when I hooked up with my now-husband? Imagine meeting the man of your dreams, then learning your microbiomes were so compatible. I'm thankful I've had very few UTIs, and no new cavities, since cleaving to him. #thankful #absolutelyGetFuckedUTI
So thankful and appreciative of my Mastodon community on this Thanksgiving. Have not been online much for self-care reasons, but I'll be back. Feeling more resilient by the day.
