Today's "I'm laid off and bored" project.
Figured a torii gate for my desk would be really nice. So why spend $10 and buy one when I could 1) Pinch the skin between my thumb and finger between a hammer and chisel. 2) Make a mess everywhere. 3) Aggravate my lower back pain by bending over chiseling. 4) Realize how much of a pain in the ass cutting a mortice in a round dowel is.
Thankfully wood filler exists.

Good News -- Elon Musk cannot fire you.
1st, follow the chain of command. - That is important.
Something I have been following on Meta (Facebook) is there are government employees who were supposedly "fired" by DOGE, and ignored the comment. They kept going to work. And they're still getting paid, for going to work.
Additionally, there is a growing number of government employees who took the "you're fired" at face value, and now are finding out they cannot collect unemployment, because they're told they quit their jobs. Some have successfully appealed that, others no so lucky.
Elon Musk and his so-called DOGE agency were not passed by Congress, and many of these jobs they're trying to impose oversight, were passed by Congress.
Do not assume you have been laid off or fired, even if DOGE claims otherwise.

Hate making these posts, but is anyone hiring at the moment?
I'm an experienced engineering manager, I've run teams ranging from so-called 'fullstack', to data, data-platform, platform, developer experience and plain ol' software engineering.
I mainly work well with the people/ culture/ product side of things but I write a mean gantt chart if delivery is your thing.
DEIB is a huge focus for me (but, then, that hopefully goes without saying).
I'm also a very good systems/platform/devops/SRE (or whatever we're calling ourselves this year) bod- I had a few principal roles before sliding into management - I'd be more than happy to look at those roles too, though I think I'd want either contract or a strong hint of progression.
