🚨🚨🚨 #SCOTUS declined on Thurs to block a judge's order requiring #Trump's #administration to facilitate the return to the UnitedStates a Salvadoran man who the government has acknowledged was deported in error to #ElSalvador.

US District Judge Paula Xinis on April 4 issued an order that the administration return #KilmarAbregoGarcia, in response to a lawsuit filed by the man & his family challenging the legality of his #deportation.

Someday I still want to write a longish piece maybe titled "Trump on Campus" about how university upper administrators, despite shouting their social justice apologia at top volume 24/7, are deeply Trumpy.

Crushing labor movements, staunch opposition to democratic processes, authoritarianism, strong-man tactics, student-focused populism, anti-intellectualism, greed, gaslighting, victim blaming, interpersonal domination and intimidation, fiscal irresponsibility, elitism, glorification of profit, destruction of public goods for personal gain... literally the only thing about most university administrations that isn't damn close to fascism is the PR.

Yes, I know there are exceptions. There are also probably exceptions in the Republican Party. The exceptions don't change the overwhelming trends.

The former #POTUS #DonaldJTrump has made an outrageous claim that the #Democrat #Governor of #NorthCarolina, #RoyCooper, and the #Federal #Government, are “going out of their way to not help people in #Republican areas” following #HurricaneHelene (1).

Remember that every accusation is a confession. During the early period of #COVID the Republican #Trump #Administration reportedly baulked at a large-scale national plan in response to the #pandemic because the #virus seemed to initially favour #Democratic #states and was not (then) affecting Republican states (2, see also image).

Here in #Australia, we had a #conservative prime minister that in 2022 was faced with massive #floods and politicised the response to them: funding his party’s seats and states but not the other party’s seats and states (3). What happened to that prime minister is instructive: he led his party to the next #election and was soundly defeated: recording the worst result for Australia’s centre-right governing parties in seventy years.
