I'd rather want a #honest #MSRP than a effectivley unavailable one.
- OFC I don't expect a board partner to accept a margin of just $4, but it would be easier to accept a 5% higher MSRP than having no stock at MSRP.
And yes, I blame #AMD, #nvidia and #intel doing #Greedflation against #consumers because I'm very certain they don't sell #silicon at cost for a fixed price per unit depending on the order size, but rather charge a cut of the sold model (similar to #ARM does nowadays for their #licensing)...

Es ist ein offenes Geheimnis. #Musk nimmt #Ketamin und vermutlich auch andere Drogen. Ist im #Silicon-Valley unter den glorifizierten tollen Tech-Unternehmern durchaus verbreitet. Von einem #Suchtpatienten wie Musk zu verlangen sein Verhalten zu ändern wird nicht funktionieren. Einen kalten Entzug wird er freiwillig nicht machen. Zu einem Entzug müsste er politisch gezwungen werden. Aktuell sieht es nicht danach aus als wäre das eine realistische Option.

- OFC similar functionality can be achieved with #CompuTrace on #amd64-based #Laptops (i.e. #ThinkPads) and compared to that, #AMT + #ManagmentEngine is trivial to #exploit and should be considered real #backdoors (abeit "well meaning" in the sense of remote provisioning of entire fleets of devices)...
Either way, these are not inherent to the used #Silicon, but entirely #Firmware-based.
- AMT for example requires a "#Intel #vPro" configuration with Intel-made Ethernet NICs (i.e. i2xx & i3xx - Series) with a Q- or C-series Chipset & supporting #UEFI, so most Systems with cheap #Realtek-NICs aren't exploitable straight-away, and even then it requires certain settings to work, so not an easy "#Pwn2Own" style exploitability...
