I'm not bad at Yiddish, I'm just old.

Purim Eve is here!
Israel is buzzing—costumes, parades, and festive energy everywhere! Bakeries overflow with אוזני המן (Haman’s ears), the classic Purim treat.
In Hebrew: Singular: אוזן המן /’o-zen ha-’man/ (Haman’s ear)
Plural: אוזני המן /oz-’ney ha-’man/ (Haman’s ears)
Why ears? Midrash: Haman’s ears were cut as punishment.
Culinary: A known Purim pastry in Europe.
Yiddish: “Hamantaschen” means “Haman’s pockets,” later aligning with the Hebrew “ear” version.
Bite into an ear, a pocket, or just a delicious pastry—חג פורים שמח!
To be or not to be...
Want to see it? That is the question.

"Still the night and full of starlight,
And the frost burned on the land;
Do you still remernher how I taught you
To hold a revolver in your hand?
A girl. a sheepskin and a beret.
In her hands she holds a gun,
A girl with her face as smooth as velvet
Keeps watch of the enemy’s caravan.
An aim, a shot right on the target,
Her small pistol had reached its mark,
An auto filled high with ammunition
Her shot had stopped it in the dark."
If you don't have something nice to say, say it in Yiddish is a perfect example of why the Yiddish language is so expressive and so funny. Yiddish curses are the best! Your bubbe or zayde will love this, as will anyone who understands the layers to Yiddish humor.
Other products, also in pink and more Yiddish and Jewish designs too

Encouraged by her little victory
For our future freer heirs."

"What sometimes gets forgotten amid the myriad horrors of the #Shoah (Hebrew for #Holocaust) is the systematic obliteration of entire cultures. #Shtetls (#Yiddish for 'small towns') with predominantly, or entirely, #Jewish populations were scattered across the east. In a world in which pogroms might flare up and result in massacres, these communities provided relative security out of which all kinds of cultural expression might flourish. Core to them was often a rich #musical life, with the #violin at its core. This playlist seeks to commemorate that heritage."
