Un violoncelle d'un côté de l'autre une partition d'un des plus grands classiques. Est ce que parmi vous certains sauront le reconnaître?

The nyckelharpa is a folk instrument from Sweden 🇸🇪 with a long standing tradition there. "Nyckelharpa" is a Swedish word, "nyckel" meaning "key" and "harpa" being a general term for a stringed instrument. Its key features (hah, see what I did there?) are the sympathetic strings and a keybox full of wooden keys. Some translate it into English to "keyed fiddle" 🗝️ 🎻 "viola de teclas" in Spanish or "viola d'amore a chiavi" in Italian - although it is not a fiddle or viola ;)

How it works: I produce the sound with a bow on the strings, like on any other bowed instrument, but instead of touching the strings with the fingers of my left hand and pushing them down on a fretboard or fingerboard to play a melody, I press a key. The key moves a little wooden tangent to the string and tada, the note changes 🎉 The magical sound of the nyckelharpa is created from its sympathetic strings (usually 12) which are enhancing every note I play on the four melody strings.

Thanks to you and all the commenters sharing stories of their experiences: it’s important to recognize the harm done enforcing right preference in children.

My connection to this is tricky, because I teach violin and viola to youngsters, and consistently get the expected percentage of little lefties in my studio, except that the violin is a remarkably asymmetrical instrument…

Games, anime, movies, visual novels, and any other sort of soundtrack I can get my hands on are in my repertoire :shiba_love: I stream on Youtube and Twitch and spend the time introducing people to soundtracks and taking soundtrack requests :charmander_yay:

Over the last 1.5 years, I've also dealt with long covid, which makes my stamina 20% of what it used to be, alongside making everything cost more and recover slower, which has been a frustrating journey, and I've become nearly unable to do in-person performances because even the travel is exhausting :not_like_this: I'm also AuDHD, and always have the specter of repetitive stress injuries looking over my shoulders :blob_sweat:

Today's piece is the main theme from Lupin III, a beloved yet often underappreciated anime series that started back in the 1970s, going on to get classics like The Castle of Cagliostro directed by Miyazaki Hayao himself :cat_wow:

My favourites by far, though, are The Castle of Cagliostro, First Contact, and Lupin III vs Detective Conan (I'm really fond of the interactions between Fujiko and Conan :bugcat_nod: )
