I forgot to add as part of my #introduction, I’m also looking to collaborate with any #gamedev people who need music for their projects!

I’m a #composer who can write orchestral, rock, and electronic music. I’m studying Game Music composition and orchestration at the moment, so would love to chat to any game developers too!

"Here's a pleasant surprise: For once an emulator is being discontinued, and it's not bad news," writes @wes.readonlymemo.com for his newsletter, @readonlymemo. He discusses how the Lime3DS, which picked up the code from Citra after Nintendo's settlement with Yuzu, is joining forces with another developer to create a new, yet-to-be-named emulator. "No longer will development be fragmented between these forks, and instead all progress will be made in a single coordinated effort," the Lime3DS devs wrote in their latest update." Also in this issue, an update on N64 core developer Robert Peip's emulator work, and a fan translation of Saturn RPG Princess Crown that is proving messy.

Concept artists define the look of video games. For Aftermath, Luke Plunkett spoke to a number of them, from indie freelancers to those at AAA (major) studios and everything in between, to learn about the work they do, why much of it is unseen, and the gnarly nature of contracts and NDAs. "...the implicit expectation is that a studio will own the work you make forever. One particularly hostile contract stated they would own my work in perpetuity for the rest of my life, or my children's lives. Not sure if that one will hold up in court," says Daisy, a AAA veteran now working in independent development.

I think I've mentioned this before but I want to shout out again to all the game developers who allow you to choose whichever set of button icons you want. I cannot overstate how much easier it is for me to just use the PSX style icons for everything.

Especially because X exists in all console controllers
and is in a different place for each of them.

I feel like a lot of people wouldn't consider this an accessibility thing, and it's certainly a very
small thing; like, I adjust, it happens, but it's just so much easier and enjoyable for me to pick and I'm so glad it seems to be a thing with all games lately.
