I became tired while writing the codes so it's a story told through pictures and a video clip of #emacs.

Encourage me to write it up later. lispy-gopher-show.itch.io/lisp

#notesnook just decided to "improve" tab handling.

its now completely broken on Desktop (Firefox). Tabs dont work anymore, ie. if you create a new note, it doesnt open in a new tab, instead it REPLACES the existing one. you have to EXPLICITELY open a new tab.

hooray. so basically no basic UI document handling, like ANY OTHER notetaking, no, ANY BLOODY EDITOR and just about ANY tabbed interface?!?

Lemme guess: Tested only in Chrome on Android?

#wtf#usability#gui

I can't believe that after basically 30 years of the concept of dominance of the UI principle of “opening a document with a default application" you can't do a key combination like ALT+DOUBLECLICK to open an app with a preferred secondary application. As opposed to the clunky, right-click, select “open with" etc.

eg.
- Double Click an html document opens in Web Browser
- ALT+ Double Click an html document opens in Code Editor

@cameronbosch @funkybuddha @itsfoss That being said AFAICT #RedoxOS at least has a #GUI, so unlike #OS1337 there's way less work necessary to build applications for it.

@krutonium I can recommend @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabsLinux which runs smooth in my #Vaio #P11Z with the shitty #GMA500 in #llvmpipe.

  • If that's too straining, consider #TinyCore, which us a #BusyBox-based distro - abeit very minimalist.

Those are the options with a fancy #GUI.

The History of GTK

GTK is a multi-platform toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs). It has become one of the primary libraries for building Linux desktop applications and is widely used in various environments, including GNOME. Its evolution from GTK 2 to GTK 3 and then to GTK 4 reflects significant advancements in functionality, usability, and aesthetics, accommodating modern design paradigms and user needs.

#Python #programmers developing small to medium in-house business applications should avoid web #GUI frameworks and adopt instead a console #TUI framework, like #Rich.

• Implementing an enterprise application used by a handful of in-house business experts as a web application is nonsensical.
• Having to traverse the Web, back and forth, just to update a couple of fields in one record is wasteful.
• Handing over one's proprietary, sensitive business data to someone else's cloud is uncomfortable, at the very least.
• Implementing web GUIs in Python is not an optimal use of the language.
• Small in-house software with a few users is most effectively implemented as a simple, client/server architecture in Python with a TUI client.
• A TUI application is easy to code, easy to read, and easy to maintain, even for junior Python coders.
• A well-designed TUI is just as intuitive and inviting to the users, especially those who are the experts of the company's operations.
• Behind-the-firewall application like this is far more secure, by nature.
