Since I am in Rome for a couple of days, I decided to come to work at the Library of the Senate of the Italian Republic this fine morning.
The library staff is not friendly at all, but the place is crazy.
I was asked what kind of laptop this is, and of course I proudly replied: “it’s a @frameworkcomputer, you should get one ”
The #Framework Laptop 13 is a slightly unusual size and aspect ratio. So, instead of getting a case that "kind of" fits, I had one custom made from this great #Canadian artist from #Quebec on #Etsy who specializes in making things from kimono fabrics. This is my second one from them and the quality of both is excellent. If you are in the market for a new case, please give their shop a look:

HIGHLIGHTS:
• Proposed U-ViT model based on Prithvi GFM for multi-sensor glacial lake mapping.
• Achieved an F1 score of 0.894 on Sentinel-1&2, surpassing CNNs scoring below 0.8.
• Maintains strong performance with 50% less training data, proving efficiency.
• Excels in detecting small lakes (<0.01km²) and handling clouds and complex terrains..."

Blog post (not by me) about running #FreeBSD on a @frameworkcomputer #Framework13 #AMD #Ryzen notebook: https://xyinn.org/blog/freebsd/framework_laptop
When you’re in San Francisco, you tear down a #Framework.
Stay tuned!
I'm officially part of the #framework installing #ubuntu @frameworkcomputer
Thanks to @andypiper and @pluralistic for their advice
I have some strange and annoying problem with my @frameworkcomputer #Framework 16 notebook: Since a few months, when the notebook is running non-stop for a few days, the touchpad and the keyboard stop responding. The keyboard is responding again after a few seconds but not the touchpad.
Only after the notebook has been shut down for a day or so, the touchpad starts responding again but not if it is powered down only for a few minutes.
Framework support has sent a replacement touchpad which shows the same behaviour and they otherwise are not helpful at all. They just keep asking the same questions, do not care to read my replies and tell me it is because I am running #FreeBSD and this is "not a supported Linux distro" (sigh...).
Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem?
I have been quite happy with the notebook but this kind of customer support experience is really frustrating...
Happy I Love Free Software Day!
Unfortunately, this year I could not join nor organize any in-person celebration, BUT of course I want to share my gratitude to the many, countless #FreeSoftware services I don’t merely use, but actually depend on.
Last year, I decided to focus only on #YunoHost, because it would have been crazy to list all the projects I use and I love.
This time, even if I will most certainly forget someone, I am challenging myself to mention all the #LibreSoftware my life is powered by.
Without further ado, THANK YOU to:
Lastly, but most importantly, the biggest thank you goes to all the free software libraries and dependencies the above mentioned #software are made of/built with, including #C, #JavaScript, #Python, #Rust, and all community-maintained programming languages.
I am super sorry if I forgot someone!
Can confirm that the microSD module for the Framework Laptop also Just Works™ on FreeBSD as well. Currently using it to write a fresh Home Assistant image to a microSD card.

Done!
Installation was bumpy… The main issue was that I chose btrfs
for /boot
, which apparently needs ext4
instead.
Now I am getting this error message during boot, does anyone have any idea about how to solve this? (Please tell me I don’t need to reinstall…)
Apart from that everything seems to be working well! I will conclude the configuration tomorrow.
I am stoked! Installing Debian Trixie (Debian 13 testing) on my Framework!
Because I like the concept, here's this years #GoodOf2024. A concise list of projects I did in 2024, to actually convince my brain that yes, I actually achieved something.
- Helped @patagona with his ISDT #CM1620 reverse engineering
- Built the #Framework #DongleHiderPlus expansion card
- Implemented MQTT data logging for the #ePocketBike stats
- Started development of an #Arduino compatible Ethernet stack for the cheap #CH32V208 MCUs (built-in 10M PHY)

@derPUPE this is the kind of stuff I want available for the #framework laptops
So before I plunk down $ for a Framework AMD, can anyone tell me how long they last on battery?
