Ok, I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get #RAID configured on my #lenovo #ThinkPad #P70 - to no success.

I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyCC1NGe8a8&t=36s of the similar #p50 and configuring #RAID which shows the #BIOS interface but my P70's only show the "non-raid physical discs" I do not have an option for RAID volumes. Note I have upgraded the BIOS to the most recent version on lenovo's web site. Any thoughts?

I have attached 2 #screenshots of what the BIOS displays - I'm trying to configure the RAID on the two 512GB #NVMe sticks.

A summary for #Lenovo #Linux shopping in any country:

1. Go to #Thinkpad models directly.
2. Filter just by your preferred screen size. Lenovo does not have functional OS filtering.
3. X1, Z and T series are the highest quality. L is cheaper.
4. Select any that have a "Customize" ("Crea", "Rakenna oma tietokoneesi"...) option.
5. Check the OS options - many have either #Ubuntu or #Fedora (fewer) available -> buy a certified laptop that works out of the box, and some €/$ go to Linux development.

Lenovo Thinkcentre M710q tiny refuses to detect the NVMe drive I have installed. But when I boot from an installer USB, I have no issue installing my OS of choice to said NVMe that stays invisible to the BIOS.

I got a Lenovo ThinkPad L380 Yoga from 2016 but it won't start. It beeps, showing:

0271: "Check Date and Time settings""
0251: "System CMOS Checksum bad - Default configuration"
Configuration changed - Restart the system

however it runs into the same loop. F1/F2 to enter BIOS won't work, errors and loop before BIOS is shown.

Laptop was probably with low/dead battery for years.

Reset pin from the bottom of the case pressed, didn't change.

Ideas?

Wow this #Lenovo #ThinkPad is crap. Lost the USB-C port a few months after purchase. Sometimes key get soft-locked stuck for no apparent reason.
More recently, the up-arrow has become less responsive (something stuck inside? broken sensor? who knows), and the nib buttons (the ones *above* the touchpad) have started acting up too (right one seems to have completely stopped responding now). Time to go do an #RMA, methinks.

As a surprise for my daughter, I'm turning my old #Lenovo #ThinkPad T440p into an #Ubuntu laptop for her, it was running arch and hyprland but I wanted something entry-level friendly for her.

Here it is running the installer (24.04 LTS), and her favourite game (Minecraft).

The work laptop for the new job just arrived. Sucks it's not a Macbook, but because there is phone support involved, it's not a surprise as most of the phone support stuff is done via Windows for some strange reason.
