A just economy is one where every worker is paid enough to cover life's living costs - at the very minimum. But workers paid the new UK Gov legal wage rates from the start of this month, will still earn £760 less per year than those on the real #LivingWage.

Sub-living wage jobs should be illegal.

All jobs should come in fixed blocks of either 20 hours or 40 hours per week, chosen by the employee.

Cities, Counties, and States should send a bill each month to every corporation for ever dime of means-tested benefits and services provided to their employees (w/out naming them, of course).

For more and more US adults in the current economy, it seems like just one job is no longer enough.

According to Friday’s job report, the number of multiple jobholders in the US surged to a record 8.9 million in February, the highest figure since data tracking began in 1994. That’s 5.4% of all employed workers — a level last seen in April 2009.

It seems to me that there are people who promote an #economy that ensures there is an underclass that is undeserving of what others take for granted - #livingwage, #healthcare, a good #education, dignity in retirement... Don't denigrate the poor if you're okay with an economy that ensures there will be poor people (imagine the Sacklers complaining about people addicted to #opioids)

Every dime of exec compensation & shareholder dividends is money that was not paid to the workers that actually generated the revenue.

Refusing to pay living wages is theft from workers, period.

Every city, county, and state should bill each corp monthly for every dime of money spend paying social safety net funds to their workers (without naming names). And revoke their biz license if they don't pay up.

People seem to be confused.

When workers are paid less than a living wage, they're forced to rely on taxpayer funded social safety nets to survive.

That's not a taxpayer "handout" to workers.

That's a taxpayer handout to corporations.

The Great Prosperity: 1947-1979 after the new deal but before Reaganomics took hold

The Great Regression: From 1980 until the present, as neoliberalism successfully stole the value of improved productivity, paying themselves overvalued compensation but paying workers little.

The 80% difference between what you're worth based on productivity and what actual average wages are is the work you're giving away for free.

There was a neoliberal coup around 1970. The assassinations of various civil rights leaders and JFK mark a fundamental shift in power and policy to a truly cursed paradigm. It took about a decade to restructure the system, then by the 80s we felt the suction in full swing.

This de-coupling of productivity from wages shows the rug being pulled out from under us all, and the working class mortally bleeding out.
