Aaaaaaaand syncthing-gtk somehow just blitzed my entire #syncthing config.
And I don't have backups set up yet on this new machine.
Time to call it a night.
Reason #${RANDOM} I have trust issues with gtk apps, jeez.
Right after I got tons of folders and devices syncing nicely.
@lgatto @yantar92 @sje @daviwil you can run #emacs on Android and then of course run complete #orgmode. If that fits your needs, it depends on if you need reminders of appointments. I was pretty bummed when I learned that Syncthing on Android was no longer going to be supported, but I thought I'd be fine with just using Nextcloud. Now it seems like Android 15 just has reduced the permissions applications can even have, which prevents me from uploading files that aren't photos/videos

Ho un #bananapi 1 con un server #syncthing, oggi ho provato ad usarlo anche come media server con #minidlna e... niente c'è un sacco di buffering e non è usabile, secondo me il collo di bottiglia è il bus usb (si ho un HD usb dove ho la mia libreria multimediale) che non regge il flusso streaming anche se effettivamente la cpu ormai non è un granchè ma con htop non sembra avere reali problemi. Peccato

Was super easy to reset password for #syncthing since I forgot what I set it to 
Just had to delete the <username> and <password> elements from the config.xml.
Hmmm. Forgot what I set my #syncthing web password to on my new #endeavouros laptop. Time to figure out how I can unfook this situation.
I don't think you would necessarily have to disable anything to access the GUI from localhost. Which is what you would be doing with an SSH tunnel.
Adding a password and forcing HTTPS should then be done before changing the configuration to allow access to the GUI from the network.

**first note: running syncthing remotely kinda sucks, because syncthing requires local browser access to see status of what's going on on the remote node. No obvious/easy cli commands. May revert back to rsync. #syncthing

As #Android is becoming more and more locked down, trying to become #iOS, I see fewer and fewer reasons to use it. #Tasker (the best ever case for Android) getting nerfed over the years, #SyncThing canceling their official Android app due to Google's shenanigans regarding Play rules etc. Why use "spying af iOS" when I can use the original "a bit less spying iOS"? Please for the sake of humanity, can proper #Linux mobile become a viable thing already?
@samurro I think the benefit of #localsend is that it is easier to setup/use for less technical people too, to quickly share something between devices (not to synchronize). To sync some data regularly #syncthing is better, but it needs more configuration and thinking about your needs.
@nobodyinperson But isn't #syncthing much more powerful then? Aka #localsend is just a very basic version of it? I am trying to figure out a use case for #localsend which cannot be done with #syncthing. The only thing comes to mind if you want to transfer a file which should not "stay" on the source...

I'm not sure if there's a term that exists for what I'm doing in this age of technofeudalism. There probably is. But a term I use in my mind is "digital homesteading." And I'm surprised how many people seem actually interested. It's, of course, all about making it accessible to non tech people.

I'm using it to back up my laptop and phone to my home server, but I also have my laptop and phone backing up to each other, so if my home server goes down, I'm not SOL
@frankie Yes, #Syncthing is free but as it's a peer to peer system you'll have always have to have two of your devices online at the same time. Ideally you'd have one device like a raspberry pi or a server that's always/mostly online.
Sync happens whenever changes are detected. How often this is checked can be configured I think.
