Couple of youtube vids later, learning how to use Fusion simulation features. Added more strength to the motor mounts based on the feedback from earlier calculations + simulation environment.

Now stable for:
100kg * 9.81 downwards force (weight of the stack)
280Nm * 7.94 (reduction gearbox) = 2223Nm rotational force

with ~2.4 safety factor. I'd have liked SF >3 but ah well. I don't think this steel will ever see full 280Nm and I'd be more concerned it'll tear the original engine mount rubbers into pieces far before that.

Next up.. steel?

Polling fedi engineer people before attempting to learn how to calculate this myself. 😄

Mounting the motor like this is going to be alright? Right? 😄 (view from above)

There's going to be 4th mounting point above the stack as well just for the safety. But ideally I want these three to be able to support the motor on their own.

Using the original mounting points and rubber vibration dampener mounts, but slightly concerned about the long beams deflection/yield. Would *not* want to lose the motor onto a motorway!

In 2001, after building my own electric scooter for riding from my home in Over-the-Rhine to my office at Fifth Third Bank Tower, providing endless amusement for the neighborhood and fellow employees, I set to work on adapting diesel-electric freight train technology to an advanced series hybrid, diesel-electric semi-tractor trailer truck with a cooperative franchise converting existing trucks.

Over the past 20+ years, I've repeatedly tried having calm, rational discussions about this concept, and every single time been absolutely excoriated by Cis white man children of the EV community.

In fact, every single project of mine based on proven, evidentiary science has been attacked in every DIY community I've ever tried joining.

Apparently, nothing is real until white men say so.

I’m always a fan of having built in adjustment tools for things that need to be periodical adjusting. Needing to use the cabinet key to open the bottom door on these bigger laser machines has always bugged me. Finally decided to design and 3D print some knobs with built in triangular keys slots. Friction fit on the triangle so they can be removed if needed.

Apparently these triangular cabinet locks are not universal in the key size as the ones I made for the makerspace machine don't fit my own laser machine. So if you make your own, I would recommend doing some 5mm tall test prints of the cylinder with the triangular holes, all the way through, to fine tune the fit size. The corners of the triangles should be slightly rounded to give more room within the cylinder.

It looks like somebody is going for that RSGB Maker link up role. It's an old white guy so really showing the RSGB is still reflecting the community. ;)

Only joking. It's not this chaps fault he's an old white guy who plays with radios any more than it's mine that I'm a middle aged white guy who plays with radios and at least he's getting out there and linking the communities. More than I do.
